Panopto: Installing the Recorder, for PC. Note that this is only for personal computers,
not for college-owned computers. If you would like the recorder installed on a college-owned
computer, please file a ticket with IT. Once you're logged into Canvas, you want to
select a course in which you are enrolled as the teacher; that's important. Then on
the left-hand navigation, you want to scroll down to Panopto Recordings and click on it.
The Panopto Recordings window will open up, and on the right-hand side, under your name,
there is a link that says "Download Recorder." Click on that, and then select download installer
for Windows. It just takes a second. Select where you would like to save the installer.
I usually save to my desktop. Click save. The file will download. Once it's downloaded,
click on it to open it up and start it up. Allow it to run. It takes a second.
It's just extracting. Okay, when the information comes up, make
sure that your Panopto web server is set to the appropriate campus. It should pick that
up automatically. Click next, and then click install. This takes a few seconds. I've cut
out some of it. And that will just run along.
Okay. And now when this window pops up, you want to select Log in with Canvas. And what
it will do is open a tiny browser window that will take you to the log in screen for Canvas.
Go ahead and enter your seattlecolleges email address, or whatever email address you normally
use to log into Canvas. And your password.
And select Log In. You don't want it to remember your passwords
if it asks you; it's not safe. All right. It takes a second, and then the
recorder is up and running and ready to go. And that's all there is to that.
