  • Baden in Austria is a historic spa town. Already the Romans valued the healing sulfur water.

  • This movie gives you an overview about the attractions of the town.

  • The Kurpark is one of the most popular attractions. The origin of this park lies in the Theresiengarten.

  • This garden was created in 1792 to honor the empress Maria Theresia.

  • There are a couple of things to see in the park:

  • like the Lanner and Strauß monument, the mysterious looking Undine Fountain which

  • was opened 1903 to remember the finishing of the water pipeline in Baden,

  • the music pavilion where spa concerts are performed during the summer

  • or the flower clock. The Beethoventemple is located in the upper

  • part of the Kurpark. You can reach the temple by a beautiful path along the hillside. The

  • Beethoventemple was built in 1927 on the occasion of the 100th death year of Ludwig van Beethoven

  • and offers a wonderful view over Baden and the Thermal Region.

  • The Doblhoffpark is a further highlight in Baden. The origin is a baroque castle park

  • which was created approximately around 1750. Here you can find besides flowers of all sorts

  • an old stock of trees, a playground and also some ducks at a nice pond where you can rest

  • on a park bench or at a cafe. The Rosarium is a part of the Doblhoffpark

  • and was created in the sixties. The last restoration was in the year 2013. Here you can find approximately

  • 600 kinds of roses at over 90.000 m². At the Hauptplatz in Baden there is the plague

  • pillar which was constructed in 1713 to celebrate the victory against the plague. Next to it

  • the town hall is situated which was built in 1815. The Hauptplatz is the center of the spacious pedestrian

  • area. The Schlossergässchen is a walkway between

  • the Doblhoffpark and the center of Baden. You shouldn't miss this idyllic alley on your

  • way to the Doblhoffpark. The St. Stephan Church was constructed around

  • 1827 in the current appearance. But it's history goes further in the past. Already around 1200

  • there was a church built at this place. The Casino in Baden belongs quite sure to

  • the most beautiful Casinos in Europe. It is daily opened from 3 o'clock in the afternoon

  • and is located directly beside the Kurpark. In the summer there is also a bar on the terrace

  • which is opened in the evening at fair weather. The current building of the Theatre was finished

  • in 1909 at the Theaterplatz. But there have already been theatre performances since the

  • 17th century in Baden. Today themertherme Baden is a modern spa

  • with over 900m² water surface. The hot sulfur springs in Baden were already known and liked

  • by the Romans 2000 years ago. In the Pfarrgasse you can discover another

  • attraction of Baden. The Lumpentürl is a bit hidden between the shop windows in a corner.

  • It was a small passage in the former city wall which was used by too late home coming

  • and mostly drunken persons. Due to that the name Lumpentürl which means something like

  • ragsdoor. The Josefsplatz is a traffic junction in the

  • town center of Baden. Here you can find besides several bus stops the terminus of the Badnerbahn,

  • the former Frauenbad with the big columns in the front, which is now a museum, and some
