While social media is something a lot of people pride themselves in having expertise in, we
actually look at with a different strategy. We're looking at it from a holistic standpoint.
We don't want to just dissect it as one entity, but how does it really fit into the equation
with an entire company's business model, and then how do you leverage that for sales, marketing
business development. Jennings Social Media Marketing is a company that delivers full
service social media, SEO, video marketing, PR and content marketing. I am a Midwestern
girl by heart, but I had a vision of what I wanted to accomplish and while I didn't
know what my career was going to look like, I knew I had to take some risks early on.
I started my business at the age of 24 in Overland Park, Kan. I didn't really know much
about starting a public relations firm, I didn't know any entrepreneurs. I had no understanding
of financials, certainly didn't have any family money backing me, so I really just jumped
into it eyes wide open and went with it. We were in the right place at the right time
and we jumped into social media before it became extremely popular. So, there were some
publicly traded company clients that sought us out because they were looking for early
adopters in social media to run some test pilots in their business and those pilots
turned out to be very successful. We have a second company, Viral Bolt Media, which
was born by the fact that we needed video content and we also wanted to be able to offer
a very diversified client roster to get their story out there using video. Now Viral Bolt
Media is a full service digital agency. I have been recognized in the past in magazines
and press articles for being an entrepreneur and being an early adopter in social media.
I also speak at conferences and events relative to changes with PR and social media and SEO.
Looking back, starting the business so young, and being female was quite frankly a disadvantage
and I still think there is a stigma attached to being a female business owner and, you
know, people say, all they care about is their career. No, I'm a human being, too. I like
to have fun and spend time with my daughter. I love the fact that I get to create something
new almost every day. Not just creating within my own business, but the clients that we work
with, and I love the opportunity to inspire others and encourage them to live their dream
and get out there no matter where they come from or what resources they have at their
disposal.
