Basic Weave - starting with a Reserve Turn; Basic Weave and Natural Turn. The man step – dancing the left turn, one quarter turn to the left 1, 2, 3. I’m now facing diagonal centre. I start the Basic Weave by going back right foot 1; forward left foot 2; as I go forward, I’m going up and turning, side right foot come down soft landing 3. Then I do back left, back right going up to the toe, turning side left; and this is just the right turn. So I have 1, 2, 3; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Six steps of the Basic Weave and a Natural Turn. The lady step – she begins by backing diagonal wall dancing the 3 steps of the left turn, turning one quarter to her left. Starts Basic Weave by coming forward ball (1:45) flat left foot 1; goes back to the right foot and going up to the toe 2; keep turning land side step left foot 3; right foot steps across in front of left foot 4; going forward and up left foot turning, right foot side come down the right foot. And then the Natural Turn continue 1, 2, 3. So she will do that again, I will count the steps, she will show you the movement. And 1, 2, 3; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. And right turn 1, 2, 3. The lead for this is fairly obvious the man places himself in this position bring the lady forward and changes the direction. That’s not the hard part, the hard part is learning the direction meaning if you turn too much, is no good. If you don’t turn enough, is no good. Turning the right amount give you the optimum movement and the optimum ease of movement. In another word, the easiest way to dance and the most enjoyable. So, learn the direction properly give you the most fun and the easiest lead and follow. 1, 2, 3; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6; 1, 2, 3. I’ll show that to you with music.
