Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles We begin by giving you one simple rule right now, we are going to do what we call a left foot closed change. Which is the left foot box simply. So we begin with the man left foot forward and the ladies right foot back. So whoever is coming forward will have the left foot going forward. So we begin, step one left forward for man and right foot back for ladies. One, side step. Man’s right and ladies’ left foot. Side. Close left foot to right foot for man. Close right foot to left foot for lady. Three. We will do that again. We have for man left foot going forward for ladies going back, and one, two, three. Now that is half of the basic box. We have the other half where the lady comes forward, left foot, and the man goes back right foot. The same thing, the mirror image. We have one, two, three. And to do this properly we apply proper footwork which is the heels and toe, up and down. So we will take the proper dance hold and we do the basic left foot closed change by ourselves, and one, two, three, four, five, six, one, two , three, four five six. And as you can see we are coming forward with the heel first, side step going up to the toe, two, up on three, come down with a soft landing at the end of three. We will do that again. Ready and one, two, three, one, two, three. Now when we come together, we have a proper dance hold. So what is a proper dance hold? First of all we will turn around to give you an over all look. Now just a simple description. First of all you do not stand directly facing each other you stand a little bit over to the left. So think of the right shoe pointed between your partners feet, off set to the left that will be good. Stand quite close for now as a beginner you don’t have to be very close but certainly don’t stand too far apart, you will find it very hard to stay together if you do. So feet together, offset to the left, arms and elbows up and away from your sides, left hand holding the ladies right hand, closing the fingers lightly, gentlemen’s right hand goes behind and underneath the ladies left shoulder blade like so, and the ladies left hand just comes slightly off the shoulder. So as we turn around slowly you can see both sides, you can see we are offset to the left, elbows level across, standing nice and straight, very good posture and that our dance hold. Now as we dance the left foot closed change we are going to stay calm in the upper body and let the legs do the work. We will begin like this, and one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three, four, five, six, one, two, three, four, five, six. We will show that to you with music. And there you have a simple left foot closed change.
