  • Hey, it's Marie here with another Q & A Tuesday where I'm going to give an A to your Q!

  • Q: This week we've got an awesome question from Dana.

  • It's a very juicy one as far as it relates to business and Dana writes:

  • "Marie, how do you stand out in an overcrowded or already saturated industry, or market?"

  • Woo, that's like a juicy question because nowadays it feels like pretty much every industry is saturated and every market is absolutely full.

  • Here's what I suggest, these are two things that have worked for me really well.

  • One is there's a lot of "say me's" out there and what I mean by "say me's,"

  • there are people that look at what everyone else in the industry is doing, and they basically copy it.

  • Like they'll look at their website, make their website exactly the same as everyone else.

  • (Stop it!)

  • They'll look at people's programs or content, or products and they just basically rip them off.

  • (Oh, I'm going to copy that one. Shut up! Oh, it's mine. Yes. Stop it!)

  • And, I think it's a really big problem in almost every industry.

  • I mean, I know when the Prius, Toyota Prius first came out. I was like,

  • "Oh my God, it's so cool! It's green, blah, blah, blah," and a few months later I don't even remember the name but there was a very close knock-off.

  • I was like, "God, why couldn't they just create another green car that was not like the "Prius" and actually had a better design."

  • You'll see it across every industry. So what you want to do is not be looking at what everyone else in your industry is doing.

  • I would highly suggest you look outside, so I get a lot of inspiration from the entertainment field.

  • So from music artists, l love myself some hip-hop!

  • Anytime I can get out into other industries and find inspiration, I try and bring that inspiration back into what I do

  • in the world of online business, personal development, and marketing.

  • And I find that if you do that, you will absolutely separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

  • The other thing is this keep focused on what you want your business to be about

  • and also don't be afraid to bring your other passions, your philosophies in life into whatever your business is.

  • So an example for me is again we'll take it back to hip-hop...

  • (singing: This is why my...this is why my...)

  • Anyway, let me get back to the point. So I love me some hip-hop and I love me some business.

  • I found a way to bring in hip-hop and business, and blend them.

  • So it makes me stand out from every other "business coach job" out there or every other "writer" out there

  • because I'm bringing in my passions and it helps me stand apart from everyone else in the field.

  • So if you love cooking; if you have an obsession with the Smurfs, like I do.

  • Just see if you can build that into your business, build it into your About You page.

  • Bring it in somehow and make it relevant. That's what we've got for you today on Q & A Tuesday!

  • So if you enjoyed it, please like it and comment, and subscribe;

  • and if you want even more connected come to marieforleo.com, and get on the mailing list.

  • Thank you so much and I will talk to you soon!
