- I'm now in Yilan about an hour outside of Taipei
at the Kavalan Whisky Distillery and this place
is the number one producer for whisky
in the entire country.
Taiwanese love whisky and so do I,
so I'm going to try out some varieties right now.
The distillery is really beautiful.
You actually get to walk through and see all
the fancy machines that make the whisky
and along the way, our guide tells us
about all the different varieties they produce.
- Okay, this is our raw material, this is PG malt.
Basically we use 100% malty barley.
- [Voiceover] And I hear the Taiwanese love whisky.
- Yes, but now we rank top five
regarding the whisky consumption.
- That's something to be proud of.
- Right. (laughing)
- This looks pretty good.
An entire yard of picnic tables full of whisky.
It's time to sit down.
Look at that. So the more legs the better.
- The more legs, the richer--
- [Voiceover] The richer.
- and the stronger of the whisky.
- Cheers. (glasses clinking)
(speaking foreign language) Cheers.
Very smooth.
- Very smooth. Absolutely.
- Fruity. - Fruity.
- Easy to drink.
- (laughs) That's a good thing
Or a dangerous thing.
- (laughs) Yes.
- If you're a whisky traveller, Kavalan is probably
already on your itinerary.
If you're new to whisky, it's definitely a fun experience
all together.
