Hello it's me, Canoopsy, and you've likely heard a lot about SpaceX, but you're probably not
sure exactly what it's all about.
So this, is SpaceX Xplained. SpaceX was originally founded in 2002 by CEO Elon
Musk, known for Tesla and PayPal, for a few main revolutionary uses. The main
purpose of SpaceX was and still is, to create a rocket that doesn't cost a lot
and can go to space and back to earth multiple times with an issue.
Eventually with a big goal of visiting and possibly colonizing Mars. It all
started in 2001, Elon Musk decided he wanted to send seeds to mars using a
rocket, creating a "Mars Oasis". To achieve this vision, Elon went to Russia
to purchase intercontinental ballistic missiles, but things didn't really work out as planned.
On his way home from Russia, the idea of SpaceX was born. Elon knew that he
could launch a company capable of fully making rockets, all at a significantly
affordable price.
The first ship would also be called The Falcon, named after Han Solo's sweet ride.
After many years of constant work, development and funding, SpaceX reached
many epic goals. Such as, being the first privately funded company to launch
a liquid fuelled rocket into orbit, recover a spacecraft, send a ship to the
International Space station and more.
But moving up to 2015, SpaceX was greeted with some bad news. With its launch of the
Falcon 9 on June 28th, 138 seconds in, the rocket encountered an overpressure
event, resulting in the destruction of the vehicle and failure of the mission.
But just yesterday, on December 21st 2015, SpaceX tried again. And this time, succeeded.
The Falcon 9 rocket launched into space, carrying 11 satellites and
successfully returned back to earth and landed in Florida on solid ground. An
epic event making history, and a big step forward to the future. What do you think
