My name is Shannon and...this! is my beautiful girlfriend Cammie and today we're doing something really, really, really exciting Art Okay, so we've partnered with Marriott for their #LoveTravels Campaign So the basic idea is everyone from all over the world is going to enter in some form of artwork that expresses love to them It can be a painting, a drawing, a picture, a quote Whaterver helps you show love Then they're gonna put all of these together for an art installation at DC pride So today Shannon and I are gonna make our art pieces Yes, we are And to make this video even more gay we're gonna do like a Q&A that I posted on Twitter that's kind of LGBTQ+ related If you want to get one of these art kitswe're gonna let you know later so your art pieces can be as fancy as ours I love the tissue paper We have so many babe brushes! I get so excited over art supplies I don't deserve this! I...I'm not good enough for you! More acrylics in vibrant colors What, there's more?! This is the cutest little... What are they called? Canvas? Pencils, erasers... What do these do? To fix all my life mistakes Oh, my god! It's so fancy! How do you hold it? Really? All 5 brushes Now that we got all our supplies out Let's do the Q and Gay How do you make younger siblings... like say 5 to 10... understand what being LGBTQ means? I actually think they are the easiest people to explain it Shannon: like, you know what I mean? Cammie: Absolutely I think the younger you are you're just like "yeah, ok, whatever" Cammie: "You love them? Cool" Shannon: "You love who you love" I've heard rumors that there's a petition to get Elsa a girlfriend for Frozen 2 Shannon: Can you imagine? Cammie: I think that would be... ...so cool because then it would just normalize it for little kids just to see... real love between two people of the same sex I just think that would be amazing I'm so excited I'm gonna squeeze it What's your advice to feeling alone when it comes to sexuality? My personal advice is you're so not alone, like I don't even know how to explain like other than...you're definitely not alone With like 7 billion people in the world there's going to be someone who has the same sexual preference that you do no matter what that is and you may feel alone if you're leaving in a small town and what not but who knows, the person next to you might be feeling alone and feeling the exact same thing as you Shannon: Exactly Cammie: You're not alone by any means Do people ever get surprised when they find out that you're gay? All the time Yeah All the time...I think it's odd and a bit rude to express that Like for people to say that they're surprised I feel like a lot of people think it's a compliment "Oh my gosh, you don't look gay at all!" They want me to be like "Oh, thank you!" I just think it's wrong to assume anyone's sexuality either way Have you ever been attracted to a girlfriend? I feel like it's like... Oh, like a friend Yeah. I think that's like inevitable Absolutely! I feel like when I was younger was more like "oh my gosh, you're so pretty!" "maybe I just wish I was like you" Yeah... No No, no I love painting! Dab, dab, dab, dab, dab What was it like coming out to your friends and family? It was scary but it was like awesome like the most freeing thing ever like it was like "ok, now it's done, I don't have to worry about it anymore" It was never what I expected it to be it was always different with each different person but it was always freeing and it was always like I just took 10 thousand pounds off of my body Scariest part is like the unknown of it like you don't know how someone will react so yeah, that's really scary but I think a really important thing is that you shouldn't get to focus on that thought process because you're gonna totally make yourself paranoid and freak out and think that like every reaction will be bad when in reality like...like most are great lots are great What should I do when friends and/or parents try to forcibly make me change my sexuality? Think it's much easier to deal with that stuff when you've accepted yourself I was actually talking to Amanda Shut up. Promo for promo And she was saying that as well Like once you're confident in yourself is so much less scary to tell people because... not that their reactions don't matter anymore Whenever I would have to come out to people or someone would say something about me possibly being gay before I had accepted that about myself or was comfortable with that it was a crippling feeling it was terrifying I didn't want anyone to know I was just...It would freak me out And I think if somebody did try to change me in that vulnerable state I may have gone along with that I may have fit into that and thought "you know what? maybe I can change" 'cause it wasn't a fun feeling it was terrifying but I really did wait to come out until I was secure in myself for the most part And I think that really made a difference because I stopped caring what people were gonna say and how they were gonna react and hoped that they loved me and hoped that they accepted me but knew that if they didn't I was still gonna be me That was great, baby Thank you well done So...is this for highlighter? Okay, I finished my painting Cammie's still working on hers so I'm gonna do another one! What is like the best advice you have for someone who wants to come out? I think at the end of the day you have to remember that you have one life to live and it is your life and you need to live it for you so to like to go through your life and and limit yourself and hold yourself back from being honest and truthful it's like you're only hurting yourself like you're the only one who's gonna be hurting from that, you know? so do you wanna live your life for everyone else or you wanna live it for you? I just wanna also add that your happiness is the most important thing at the end of the day and there's no way to be happy when you're living a lie so bite the bullet and just go for it, hommies Cammie, read yours "I am what I am" And mine says: "To be yourself in a world that's constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" It's like mine is the silly version of that Shannon: Yeah, exactly! So like we said earlier there's a chance that you guys can get this kit and make your own piece of art So leave a comment down below explaining why you would like one of these kits Please, share your post on social media and hashtag "LoveTravels" so yours can be included in the art installation with ours With ours!
