Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Greetings my lovelies! Hi, it's Emmy. Welcome back to the third day of Bug Eating. And today I have this one for you. And this is actually not a bug, it's an arachnid, and it's a... zebra tarantula. There it is. Zebra tarantula. So this is Day 3; if you've missed Day 5 and Day 4, I shall put the links down below to those interesting eats, including earthworms and a whole selection of large insects. So Zebra Tarantula comes in a little tin. And yeah, let's see what it's like. Arachnid eating, yay! Okay, so Mr. Tarantula comes in a double bag... Ooh! [sniffs vigorously] He has a strong smell. Wow! Smells kinda fishy. A little bit like dried mushrooms. A lot like dried mushrooms, actually. ...yeah. Okay, not exactly unpleasant-- Oh no! A couple of his legs fell off. And a buncha salt's coming out. Rats. So... He doesn't look exactly whole, 'cause I think he got crushed a little bit. Let's verify that this is indeed an arachnid by counting its legs. And, yup. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight legs. This looks like the base of the body. And here... oh, yup. Can you see the mandibles? Yup, those are the mandibles, this is the tummy. Mmhm! And yeah. I have to say this that is a little worrisome only because it's a bit furry. Let's try a leg, first. Alright, here we go! Itadakimasu. Yeah! Not bad! Actually pretty tasty! There's a good amount of umami flavor in there. It's nicely salted. But... it tastes umami. Kinda sweet and salty, MSG. And pretty good! Tastier than crickets and tastier than some of the other bugs that I've had. Very dried-mushroomy. A little bit, kinda stinky. But... not so unpleasant. Alright, let's give that a taste. Here we go! [loud crunching and crackling] [continued loud crunching] Mmm! I like it! Mmhm! It is a lot to get through. A lot of crunchy pieces, and it's quite resilient. But.... it tastes pretty good. It's actually quite delicious. There's a nice, kind of savory-sweet-and salty thing going on, and tastes a little bit mushroomy. I think the worst part is psychologically knowing that you're biting into an eight-legged creature! But once you get beyond that, it's pretty great! Not bad at all! [sharp crack] Ugh! That was the body part. Wow. And it had a very different texture. Kind of waxy and more solid, and not crispy and crunchy. And a very, very strong flavor. Metallic, very livery in flavor... very strong. I don't care for that as much. It's very waxy and has a very strong aftertaste. Very gamey. Not... not so pleasant. All right! So now I can officially say that I've eaten a zebra tarantula. All right, tune in tomorrow for Day 2 of bug eating. And, yup! I hope you guys enjoyed that, I hope you guys learned something. Let me know in the comments below how you feel about arachnids. Are they your friends, are they your foes? Let me know. I hope you guys enjoyed that, I hope you guys learned something. And I shall see you in my next video. Too-da-loo. Take care. Bye-- Ooh! Happy holidays! Welcome back to the fourth day of bug eating. and it's... this. And this is a special mix. It's called the "special mixed bugs".
