I am also an Orphan, Child Abuse Survivor, and Rape Survivor.

There is no way you would know most of those things just by looking at me and even if we were friends you might not know most of them. Unless I really wanted you to.

The point of language is to communicate with other people, we use things we identify as so that people better understand us.

But even if the label didn’t exist or no one knew what it meant you would still be you.

You would still be a mix of all your identities and experiences.

I spent way too much time taking into consideration what other people told me my identity was and not enough time telling them to fuck right off.

What? Um, so? I can still hate loud chewers and you are pissing me off.

Clone: Well you at least can’t call yourself a quiet chewer.

Lesbian and Geek are the two things I identify as that are attacked the most.

"You aren't really an Android geek because you don't know code. Fake geek-girl famewhore. "

Hey why don't you uh fuck off?

"You’re not really a lesbian because you or dated a boy so you’re just a slutty bisexual."

Hey! Fuck off!

Those are obviously completely different things but I feel like these people have the same exclusion factor.

"You aren’t enough like me or what I think this label means so you can’t be in this club."

Yeah, they're probably all slithers.

Growing and changing is good and tomorrow my list of identities could be different and thats so okay.

The thing that sucks is that some people don’t agree.

Which makes it really hard sometimes to be proud of what you identify as.

Because people have their own preconceived notions about what each label means.

And you have basically no way of knowing what those preconceived notions are for everyone.

So my advice is if someone tries to put you under their thumb tell them to fuck off.

This video really made me realize how difficult it is to -- I mean I knew it before-- but how difficult it is to like voice your identity proudly.
