Hello and welcome everyone to the premiere episode of Spika presents:
Get the vocab
Really? Should we try something different? alright!
Hi , my name is Riccardo and welcome to Spika presents "Get the Vocab!"
The show that teaches you English using TV series
in this season we talk about the "Big Bang Theory" of course
in every video we talk about the key words of a specific episode
remember to watch this video first before the episode and then when you're done
come on our website and check out some exercises or some cool stuff
that we have for you but now let's get started with the "Big Bang theory"!
the first what we're going to see today is
now talking about a person, "to be a mess" means to be
very confused in life or very stressed
but it could also mean that you don't look that good with your clothes so "you are a mess"
now the next word is
this is very easy, it just means to end a relationship with someone
let me give you an example: Ehm... Vanessa...
We are breaking up!
"italian words"
I-It was exe... It was an example for the video!!!
Right! Let's continue...
So the next word we are going to see is
is an adjective that describes to surface of an object
so when you put your hand on something rough you can feel the friction
like with sandpaper! The opposite of Rough is
On the other hand, it's something that is nice to touch, like silk
it is also used in everyday language to say "cool"
So you can say: "cool" or "smooth!"
It means to hope that something will happen
so you pin your hopes on something
this just describes a person that lives next door to you
and then the next verb is:
It means to write veeeeery fast so sometimes even YOU can't understand it
so then you look back at it and you go:
"what the hell did I write here?"
It means to recover from something bad that has happened to you
It just mean to take something off, usually from your skin
like a plaster
like I am going to do right now...
Thank you so much love!
Women...sigh!
now this verb means when you're able to
digest something in your stomach without having any accidents
unexpected accidents....
if you know what I mean!
and then the next one is
now the screenplay is the piece of paper that you give to the
actor so they can learn their lines
let me give you an example, this is mine
I know it's just a piece of paper, but it's a five minute video, what do you want?!
now literally speaking it means when something enters one side
then exit the other side of a certain object and metaphorically speaking
"to go through something" means to live a bad experience or bad situation
Now, after this bad situation is finished
you END UP or WIND UP in another situation
as a result of what happened before.
Let me give you some examples:
after driving for miles
we ended up in the middle of nowhere by mistake or
me and Claudia hated each other in high school
but we winded up together after college
it just means to achieve or to reach a goal so when you say:
"I have accomplished something" it means you've reached a really
important goal in your life
it just means to get something back
from somewhere maybe
and now...
word parade!!!
Alright! So that was it for today!
thank you so much for watching, it means a lot to us
