Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Today Nintendo announced a bunch of new games, including a new Zelda set in the Link to the Past world and a new Yoshi’s Island, both for the 3DS. This will be the first Yoshi’s Island since 2006. No release window was given, but it’s already looking pretty good. As for the Zelda game, this isn’t a 3D remake of A Link to the Past. It’s a whole new game with a similar look and feel. Link has the ability to transform into a crude 2D drawing. When Link activates this ability the perspective of the game changes as Link walks along walls like moving graffiti. Link also benefits from other perks while inhabiting this form – he can slip between the iron bars of a jail cell, for example. A new Mario Party game is also coming to 3DS in winter, and JRPG fans may be delighted to hear that Bravely Default: Flying Fairy will be with us later this year. Also, we got updates on some previously announced games. The Mario & Luigi: Dream Team RPG was given release dates of July 12 in Europe and August 11 in North America. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, which is out May 24, will have an optional Easy Mode for those who found the Wii original too difficult. And finally, cult favorite Earthbound is making its way to the Virtual Console. For hands-on impressions from Nintendo’s event today, stay tuned to IGN.
