Hello and welcome, everyone.

My name is Chris,
I'm from England,
and this is the fourth in a recent series
of British accent reading practice lessons
where I've been reading through some
famous British poems for you.
The one I will read now is
"London" by William Blake.
Again, it's very popular and famous in the UK,
talking about and giving some insight
and poetic language about London
a couple of hundred years ago.
So I'm going to read it now,
it's "London" by William Blake:
I wander thro' each charter'd street, Near where the charter'd Thames does flow.
And mark in every face I meet Marks of weakness, marks of woe.
In every cry of every Man, In every Infants cry of fear,
In every voice: in every ban, The mind-forg'd manacles I hear
How the Chimney-sweepers cry Every blackning Church appalls,
And the hapless Soldiers sigh Runs in blood down Palace walls
But most thro' midnight streets I hear How the youthful Harlots curse
Blasts the new-born Infants tear And blights with plagues the Marriage hearse.
That was "London" by William Blake.
Hope it was interesting and that you liked it.
Thanks very much for listening.
