Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hello friends! Let's learn how to do butters on skis. In this video we will focus on nose butters and we will do tail butters in another video. So you can do butters pretty much anywhere on the mountain. You can do it off knuckles of the landing, you can do it in side hits, kickers, onto rails or on flat ground. My personal favorite is on knuckles or quarter pipe shaped side hits next to the slope. But let's focus on doing it over rollers and knuckles because this way you learn really fast and you can apply the same technique to do it off jumps or onto rails. So step 1 you will need to learn how to do small carved 360's. This is important so you can spin fast off carved edges. And then step 2 find a good knuckle it should have a shape similar to this so it is easy to press and gives you enough hang time so you can do it with ease. Then do it with little speed and this is so you increase your comfort zone slowly. I suggest you ride in straight so no carving at first with a good amount of wind up. Set the rotation pretty hard and lean your chest downwards as soon as you can. Then you do about 90º to 180º degree before you start buttering. This makes it quite easy to get going with this trick. In order to make this trick look more wicked you need to start carving and increase your speed. So in order to do that come in carving and wind up a good amount of rotation set it off pretty hard. Then your feet are going to go up in the air and press down those noses really hard. You need quite a lot of shin pressure to do this. When you pop like this it is quite easy to do but if you want to make it style it's not quite the right technique. Then you want to carve and add immediate pressure onto your noses. So let's have a look at how to do that. Here at the carve the body weight is centered over the skis and moving towards the noses. Pop slightly and just press even more onto those noses bending the skis. If you have done this right the pressure from the noses are going to send you yo to straight again. This technique is similar to that knuckle shot as well as when you want to do it off kickers. One common mistake is that you don't get enough pressure onto the noses. What I would like you to do then is in the set send that chest more downwards towards the ground. Then when you land you can avoid getting the "flat skis" like this and also in the pressing time you can send you chest down more but also be strict with your hamstrings the muscle on the back of your leg so you don't let those skis extend your legs too much. So what you want to do is send that chest down and you get a nice butter like this. Good luck I'm sure you will stomp it soon.
