[Brian Gill] Hi I'm Brian Gill with GPS medical and today we're going to take a quick review
of the Mindray M5 portable ultrasound… or as those hip new techs like to call it "M-Fiiiive"
…. …. you know marketing the people, they say
you should get in touch with the younger audience. You know what, maybe we should stick with
what I'm good at.
[Brian Gill] The reason we like the Mindray M5 so much is the same reason we like the
other ultrasounds that we recommend: it comes down to price and performance.
With the Mindray M5, as with many of their other products, you're going to get the same
kind of performance at a better price the price. The price for the Mindray new systems
is typically about the same as the price you would find on many used systems that have
the same features. Now when I talk about these features, they're often the ones you're looking
for that include the latest technologies such as the compound resolution imaging and speckle
reduction technologies … that you find on all the top systems out there.
What (Mindray does) is provide excellent image quality, particularly in the near-field range
and these well-priced Mindray ultrasounds are such great option for small practices
where budget is a big concern, and they're looking to make some extra money in their
business and provide excellent option for all the patients rather than send them out
to an imaging center. So it's really a win-win and everybody side. The key technologies you'll
find on the Mindray M5 include the "iTouch" which is also known as auto optimization.
You'll find iClear and iBeam which are known as CrossXBeam and Speckle Reduction… OmniVision….
SieVision … all those things you see as the key features for the other ultrasound
systems. The Mindray has these and it does an excellent job with the color and the 2D
as seen in these images here … as I flip through the various technologies you can see
the difference in the images as I increase the scale of these. Now, also the Mindray
has something that you will not see on others… it's called the IP processing… it's image
processing that allows you to adjust a number of parameters including: the dynamic range,
persistence, line intensity of the single touch of a button… all you do is click it
up and down until you find something that you like, without having to change a bunch
of knobs at the same time. This really gives you the image that you're
looking for, as it allows you to try to optimize that image for what you like to see. Whether
you like the Acuson images, or the Terason images… or the Philips images it will smoothe
or give you a high contrast ratio while still giving him an excellent image quality and
that's why we like the Mindray M5 ultrasound so much as a great new portable ultrasound
choice.
