  • Welcome to the Skilled channel and today we're talking about a few interesting tidbits of

  • trivia and facts regarding Halo 5. The production of a Halo game is always a complex process

  • and that creates a lot of interesting action behind the scenes. So let's take a look at

  • 8 interesting trivia facts about Halo 5: Guardians.

  • 8 New ESRB Rating Every traditional game in the main Halo series

  • has been rated M for Mature, but Halo 5 will be the first game that is rated T for Teen.

  • Does Halo 5 really have much less violence to allow it to sneak under the Teen rating?

  • Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 were all rated mature due to Blood and Gore. The

  • specific reasons cited even in the first Halo game was:

  • Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary: "Frequent blood-splatter effects occur when enemies

  • are shot, sometimes staining the surrounding environment; aliens often break into bloody

  • fragments when killed

  • But Halo 5's description is the following.

  • This is a first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a super soldier

  • (Locke) searching for a missing character. Players use pistols, machine guns, grenade

  • launchers, and futuristic weapons to kill alien and human enemies in frenetic combat.

  • Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire, explosions, and occasional blood-splatter

  • effects. Characters can also use "assassinations" to kill characters by snapping their necks,

  • or by stabbing them with bladed weapons. The word "a*s" appears in the dialogue, as well

  • as occasional taunts/insults.

  • Regardless Halo 5 opens itself to a bigger audience with a Teen rating.

  • 7 First Trailers The first two trailers for this game did not

  • feature gameplay or even computer generated graphics. They were actually both live action

  • trailers and they premiered on March 29, 2015 during the season finale of The Walking Dead.

  • One trailer is Jameson Locke pointing a gun at Master Chief and the other trailer is almost

  • identical but with the situation reversed. Master Chief pointing the gun at Jameson Locke.

  • It's the first time in the Halo series that we get to play as a protagonist other than

  • Master Chief and it presents an interesting twist to the Halo story.

  • 6 Blue Team Halo 5 is also the first in game appearance

  • of Spartan-II Squad known simply as Blue Team. Blue Team is comprised of Kelly-087, Frederic-104,

  • Linda-058, and led by John-117. Blue Team was originally introduced in the novel Halo:

  • The Fall of Reach and has played a key role in the expanded Halo universe.

  • 5 Fireteam Osiris Origins Fireteam Osiris is a team of Spartan-IV's

  • lead by Jameson Locke to hunt down the Blue Team. It's comprised of Locke, Edward Buck,

  • Holly Tanaka, and Olympia Vale. But Fireteam Osiris originally had Gabriel Thorne in their

  • lineup who can be seen on the cover of The Art Of Halo 5: Guardians. He was replaced

  • with Edwards Buck after Nathan Fillion agreed to reprise his role.

  • 4 AI Companions Halo 5 is the first game to feature tactical

  • squad commands with AI companions in the game. Funny enough, the internal development code

  • name for the AI companions was "Musketeers."

  • 3 Reprising Voice Actors Many fan favorite voice actors have made a

  • return. Keith David reprises his role as the Arbiter and can be seen assisting Spartan

  • Locke in gameplay footage. Nathan Fillion is reprising his role as Edward Buck from

  • Halo 3: ODST. However, he is no longer an ODST he is now a Spartan.

  • Returning from Halo 2: Anniversary is Travis Willingham as Fred-104. Travis' wife, Laura

  • Bailey, plays Olympia Vale. The funny thing is, this isn't the first time Travis and Laura

  • have portrayed characters on opposing sides.

  • Vale was also created in the likeness in Laura Bailey, and Holly Tanaka closely resembles

  • her voice actress, Cynthia McWilliams.

  • 2 Mister Chief Mister Chief. Yes Mister Chief, not Master

  • Chief, is the community icon that first made his appearance back in 2004 on a Bungie Weekly

  • Update by Frank O Connor. Now Mister Chief finally gets a speaking role and he's voiced

  • Halo: Nightfall mini series. And he provided his likeness and performance for the motion

  • capture of Jameson Locke's character in Halo 5. The original intention was obviously to

  • voice Locke in Halo 5, but he was casted as Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

  • which caused scheduling conflicts. Mike Colter and 343 Industries mutually agreed to accomadate

  • his Marvel schedule and cast another actor for the character's voice. Ike Amadi, who
