Planetside 2 confirmed for the PS4, Firefall enters open beta soon, Microsoft mysteriously
cancels their E3 media roundtable, and stick around to the end to find out how to win a
copy of The Last of Us!
Hey guys, I'm Jess, and this is the Curse Weekly Roundup.
Well, there's a SURPRISING amount of news considering E3 begins in a few days, but let's
get right into it.
First up, on Wednesday SOE uploaded a teaser video announcing that Planetside 2 is coming
to the PS4! They announced just about as little info about this as they could, promising more
about it at this year's E3 - so we'll definitely give you guys all that coverage. Are you guys
gonna play it on the PS4? Leave me a comment below and let me know!
Next up, news dropped earlier this week that Microsoft had suddenly and mysteriously canceled
their post-E3 media roundtable. Toronto Sun tech reporter Steve Tilley tweeted this info,
saying he got the news in an email from Microsoft's PR agency. The official story is that it's
due to "changes in execs' schedules," but a lot of gamers out there think that's PR
doublespeak for "you guys are gonna ask a lot of questions about used games and always-on
DRM that we just don't wanna answer." What do YOU guys think? PR coverup? Or are some
of us jumping to conclusions and it was simply a scheduling issue?
Moving on, Red 5 is giving us ONE last chance to play Firefall before the game reaches its
open beta. Their last beta weekend begins...today, June 7th, at 12 pm Pacific, and runs til 11:59
PM pacific on Sunday, June 9th. During this time, anyone can install the client and play
for free - AND as a thank you for participating in the beta weekend, Red 5's giving out prizes.
Everyone who logs in gets a special set of in-game night-vision goggles. You can also
enter to win one of two FIrefall Prize Packs, containing a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition
keyboard, an ATi Radeon iPower Iceq X2 3GB video card, a limited edition Brontodon plushie,
and a Commander-level Founder's Pack! To enter, create a video showcasing why you love Firefall,
and submit it through the game's official Facebook page, which we'll link below. And
if you're STILL not convinced to dive into New Eden, don't take my word for it - check
out James' video, which we'll link below, about making New Eden your own, and all the
things the game and its universe have to offer.
Next, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has hit the App Store! It costs $9.99, for
the iPad only, and has been getting mostly positive reviews - obviously it's the same
game as the inital Kotor's release, but apparently some of the controls are a little wonky since
they weren't originally designed for a touch screen.
And finally, The Last of Us has been receiving perfect and near-perfect scores across the
board. Now personally, I'm really not surprised. I remember being blown away by its showing
at E3 2012, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! And, because I'm so excited about this
game, Curse is gonna give one of YOU guys a copy. To enter, I want you to recreate the
cover art - the medium you use is up to you! Draw it in MSPaint, grab a friend and snap
a photo of the two of you posing as Ellie and Joel, reenact the scene with barbies or
Lego characters, whatever - the more creative, the better. Use an image hosting site like
imgur to upload a photo of your creation, and tweet me the link @JessBrohard. We'll
choose the best, funniest, or most creative entry on June 13th and announce the winner
on next week's Roundup, which we'll be shooting at E3.
And that's all we have for you this week! But hey, if you wanna see more videos from
us, be sure to click here and here, and hit that subscribe button down there if you haven't
already! And as always, thanks for watching, enjoy the game.
