  • -It´s about the rise of the porn industry.

  • -No, it didn´t trigger anything, no.

  • -Prostitution. -It didn´t, no.

  • Nothing triggered anything. -Old 42nd Street.

  • -It was just gritty and great,

  • but I have a feeling nothing scares you.

  • -Nothing scares me? -Yeah.

  • -Maybe are you an emotional person?

  • -[ Laughs ] There´s a lot that scares me.

  • -Well, does the "It," the clown? Does that scare you?

  • [ Laughter ] -I just saw that.

  • -Did it scare you?

  • -Um... -Yeah, not really.

  • -No, it was really well done.

  • -Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was really well done.

  • -We don´t want to talk about "It."

  • -I know you´re not here for that.

  • But it was really well done.

  • -You know what scares me?

  • [ Shouting over each other ]

  • -I would leave -- that´s my biggest compliment of "It,"

  • I would walk out on it. -You know what scares me?

  • -What? My man Tariq is on the show.

  • -No. -"The Deuce."

  • -No, Tariq. -He is the scariest pimp

  • on the show.

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • -I´m not kidding, he´s -- he´s the pimp of an actress.

  • -Look at this. -There he is -- Reggie love.

  • -Reggie love.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -One of his ladies is played by Kim Director,

  • and last night she was telling me this story.

  • In the opening, in the pilot episode,

  • he has this whole amazing scene where he

  • and this other pimp, C.C, have this conversation

  • about Nixon´s war policy in Vietnam.

  • It´s an incredible scene.

  • While they´re also, like, looking for new prospects,

  • you know, to turn out.

  • Yeah.

  • And Maggie Gyllenhaal saw that it was on the show.

  • And she´s amazing in the show.

  • She saw the dailies of that and she goes up to Kim,

  • she´s like, "oh my God,

  • you got the best pimp." You got the best pimp.

  • -You got the best pimp. [ Laughter ]

  • -No, I heard the voice and I go, I know this voice.

  • -Yeah, he is amazing. My man, Reggie Love.

  • -I know him really well. Reggie Love, that´s my man.

  • [ Cheers and applause ]

  • Tariq, no joke, no joke, Tariq, you were phenomenal

  • in the first episode. You were fantastic.

  • -The only problem with Tariq on the show

  • is he had to leave at like 3:30 every day to come here.

  • -No, that´s not the problem, that´s good for us.

  • Please. Give me a break.

  • But here´s the thing.

  • This is what I want to get into with you.

  • Because we -- every time you come on,

  • we talk about different things you do.

  • You do poetry. You do painting.

  • You really do. You are a professor.

  • Weren´t you a professor at one time?

  • -Yeah, I taught at too many schools.

  • I taught at NYU, USC, UCLA.

  • [ Cheers ]

  • -But now -- but then I just heard that you´re --

  • you´re into baking.

  • -[ Laughs ]

  • Yeah, no. It´s true. -Not that type of baking.

  • Not that type of baking -- like pies, pies.

  • Cooking, cooking, cooking.

  • -What kind of baking? Like crack?

  • -Not crack but -- -What kind of baking?

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -Baby steps, baby steps.

  • -What´s the other kind of baking?

  • While you´re baking, you smoke the doobie, man.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • -Oh, baking. -Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • -Okay, okay, okay. No, no, no.

  • Although I did make Seth Rogen a pie

  • and he loved it. [ Laughter ]

  • -Oh, yeah -- -I´m not kidding.

  • -Yeah, well, of course he was probably --

  • -Making a pie is the best move ever.

  • -Really? -Yeah.

  • The way I got into it, my friend, he´s like --

  • he´s like a tough guy, a kick boxer,

  • a real macho dude, runs marathons, and everything.

  • My other friend was like, "Yo, I did Ray a favor,

  • and he showed up at my door with a pie

  • that he made,

  • and he went out and bought a can of whipped cream,

  • brought that, just showed up, boom.

  • Here you go, thank you." -The kick boxer tough guy?

  • -Yeah, I was like, "Whoa, if Ray makes pie."

  • -That´s pretty impressive. -I´m gonna make a pie.

  • It´s the best.

  • -So you know how to do it and everything?

  • I would be intimidated.

  • -I mean, my friend Samantha,

  • she taught me how to do it.

  • But it´s like -- it´s a good move.

  • -Cookbooks and stuff? -Sam brings it over.

  • We watch like, "Handmaid´s Tale," bake pies.

  • And it´s the best move.

  • And I went over to Seth --

  • -Count me in, man, I´m in. And I went over to Seth´s,

  • he made dinner. -But what´s your secret pie?

  • What´s your pie?

  • -I do apple, I do apple crumble,

  • I do blueberry.

  • -[ Gasps ] Crumble´s the gem.

  • -Yeah, I mean, it goes over really well.

  • -Yeah. -Seth was -- I mean --

  • Seth bakes, you know.

  • [ Laughter ]

  • And he was like --

  • -Yes, Seth bakes, now you´re getting what I´m saying, yes.

  • He was like, "Oh, whatever it is, dude,

  • that´s fantastic. Best thing I ever had."

  • -"The best pie I ever had."

  • Yeah, I bake, Seth bakes.

-You´re scared by the show?
