people's imagination, after being born without limbs, and surviving an abusive childhood
to become a successful painter and motivational speaker.
00:37 COMM: But from the beginning the odds were
stacked against her. Zuly was born with Tetra-amelia syndrome. A rare condition which meant her
arms and legs didn't develop properly.
00:58 COMM: But Zuly's mother was determined that
her daughter would grow up to be an independent woman despite her disability.
01:35 COMM: As well as adapting to daily life without
arms or legs, Zuly also developed an extraordinary talent for painting with her mouth. But further
tragedy meant Zuly struggled to cope with the cards she'd been dealt.
01:47 COMM: Her father committed suicide when she
was only two. Then at the age of seven, Zuly was raped.
01:56 COMM: As a teenager she hit rock bottom.

Zuly couldn't be defeated, she found the strength to turn her life around, and began giving
motivational lectures. Ten years later, she regularly speaks in businesses, prisons and
schools, and is
the pride
of her hometown.
