  • Welcome everybody to probably the weirdest topic I've ever done

  • but hey here we go, top 10 betrayal anime!

  • And don't you judge me for this one, I didn't come up with this idea...

  • It was requested... heavily requested!

  • Can't tell why truly but hey I'm a man of the people, so I'll comply, sure.

  • Top 10 betrayal! My name is Misty Chronexia and let me tell you about anime

  • where the deception was a key element of their show.

  • Sometimes it's plot related, like Madoka Magika.

  • Other times it's for cool twists, like in Bleach.

  • As usual, I'll try to keep the list as spoiler-free as possible.

  • And... If I can't avoid it... I'll give you a warning shot... so let's go!

  • Number 10: Uraboku

  • Nothing says betrayal like inappropriate (almost sexual) bad touch.

  • It's a Shounen Ai. Cool! So now that I've lost the interest of all my male audience

  • let me tell you about the story!

  • Yuki, our male protagonist has the ability of seeing someone's memory by touching them.

  • Inappropriately or not.

  • That leads him to receive a death note!

  • [Chuckles] No, not the anime. It's like a death threat- People want him dead.

  • But unbeknownst to him, he's being watched by both sides.

  • Those who harm, and those who protect.

  • On one foggy night, he gets rescued by a mysterious man

  • and then Yuki starts to find his purpose.

  • The anime came out in 2010, it's 24 episodes long,

  • and while on the topic of betrayal is quite key,

  • I wouldn't quite recommend it unless you have a keen sense for the mystery, the fantasy,

  • and the gay butt sex ;) but I'm merely paraphrasing

  • but again... not so much.

  • Number 9: Deadman Wonderland

  • Alright so in the case of Deadman Wonderland,

  • telling you about who's betraying who would kind of lead to a pretty big spoiler...

  • So forgive me as I tippy toe around the topic.

  • However, the story in itself should get you intrigued.

  • Deadman Wonderland is a prison who also doubles as a theme park

  • where prisoners [are] pinned against each other in sadistic death games.

  • Ganta, the main character, gets framed as the murderer of his class and gets sent the prison.

  • There, he has to play the game while still trying to understand

  • who's the one who deceived him in the first place.

  • It's a great anime but it won't ever have a sequel

  • so I highly recommend reading the manga instead for this one.

  • Number 8: Btooom!

  • Btooom! is an anime I never truly expected to enjoy.

  • Started watching it on a whim,

  • and I thought it was a pretty stupid name for an anime and... then I kind of fell in love with it.

  • Essentially it's a survival anime.

  • I might be biased cause I really love those anime,

  • But Btooom! really went the extra mile with the trope.

  • The story is about Sakamoto, a really talented video game player of the game Btooom!

  • Who gets kidnapped along with other people to play a live version of the game.

  • It's pretty much like Battle Royale or

  • remember that 2007 movie called [The] Condemned with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin?

  • Fucking loved it.

  • Anyway, the betrayal in this show is a bit spoilery so that's why I'm dancing around the topic

  • but the psychology around it was brilliant and I cannot recommend it enough.

  • Number 7: Arslan Senki

  • In this anime, the betrayal isn't really used as a "polt-twist unexpected punch" type of device;

  • it's interesting to the whole drive of the anime.

  • The story is about Arslan, a Persian prince who grew up under the great prosperity that the kingdom had

  • and has been quite pampered despite the ongoing war happening in the neighboring empire.

  • That was all nice and dandy until, well, in my line of work we call it

  • "shit hit the fan."

  • A trusted advisor of the king betrays them and Arslan is forced to leave his country.

  • There, he meets with new allies with whom he will try to recapture the capital.

  • It's a grandiose anime with great scenery, epic battle, and has the adventure trope down to the blood.

  • I recommend it to anyone seeking stories like Rokka no Yuusha, Kingdom, or even Berserk.

  • Number 6: 91 Days

  • 91 Days is a story about Avilio who receives a letter.

  • In the letter, someone tells him about the brutal... murder... of Avilio's family

  • and how he wants to help him avenge them.

  • Telling about 4 individuals who had ties in the faithful event.

  • So now, Avilio returns to his hometown with the sole purpose of exacting his revenge.

  • Not afraid of betraying anyone he has to achieve his goal.

  • Everyone kinda gets screwed over in this anime.

  • If you like mind games, this is a solid entry that I feel would appeal to a lot of people.

  • Hopefully to you too!

  • Number 5: Future Diary

  • Alright, this one's betrayal is not something I can discuss openly

  • because uh that would ruin the entirety of the show

  • so I guess you guys will have to take my word for it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Nonetheless, I can still at least tell you about the story.

  • So meet Yuki, your average puss in boots.

  • Once again, this is a survival type of anime

  • and all participating characters have a special ability on their phone.

  • It's probably an app, although smartphones weren't really a thing back then.

  • May that be seeing another person's action or seeing your future 10 minutes ahead of time.

  • Yuki gotta use his classmate Yuno so they can both fight off all the other players and hopefully survive.

  • But in the end, there can still only be 1 victor.

  • It's pretty gory, so keep that in mind if you plan on watching it but otherwise it's really good.

  • Number 4: Zetsuen no Tempest

  • Hey would you look at that! Another one where my hands are pretty tied as well!

  • Even the plot is kind of hard to explain in a few sentences so let's see what I can do about it.

  • Zetsuen no Tempest is the story of 2 guys, Yoshino and Mahiro.

  • Yoshino was dating "girl" in secret.

  • Said "girl" ends up dying and Mahiro goes on a vengeful quest to find out who killed said "girl."

  • At some point, a witch gets involved, because magic is a thing in this anime

  • and the witch gets banished to an island...

  • [wait for it...]

  • WHICH they gotta rescue her from.

  • I think that's a good spoiler-free summary I can highlight.

  • But hey, like, betrayal is pretty heavily spread on this one.

  • You won't have doubt believing me as you watch the show...

  • But I guess this is an anime that doesn't really make much sense

  • until you reach the very end of it?

  • You gotta try it for yourself.

  • That is the absolute worst description I've ever done for an anime.

  • I am terribly sorry for this...

  • Number 3: Black Lagoon

  • Here you have a betrayal happening fairly early on in the story.

  • The plot's about a businessman who was on a delivery trip.

  • Eventually, he comes to realize that his delivery might not be as kosher as he was told,

  • and he ends up in a crossfire of a crime syndicate who all want his package.

  • Insert penis joke.

  • About 6 inches.

  • That aside, he ends up along a group of mercenaries.

  • In this new environment, he has to adapt to his lifestyle and get ready for some pretty serious bloodshed

  • if he hopes to get his vengeance on the one who betrayed him.

  • This anime is pretty action-heavy and quite high pace.

  • I recommend it to every Seinen lover- it'll be right up your alley.

  • Number 2: Akatsuki no Yona

  • Again, here you have a story that wholly begins on the fact that Yona, the main girl character, got betrayed.

  • This one's a bit spoilery, but again that happens midway through episode 1.

  • If you really wanna stay a virgin to this show, skip ahead.

  • Otherwise, this is the only spoilery bit I will tell you about because it's kinda important to explain the plot.

  • You good? You still have a chance to skip ahead...

  • No? Alright.

  • So Yona was supposed to marry a dude.

  • Said dude had no chill.

  • So he fucking stabbed her father...

  • To death.

  • Dead papaaaaa.

  • Yona clearly can't take a burn this hard cause she's all out of burn heal,

  • decides to go on a revenge quest to cleanse all of her salt away.

  • On her path, she meets with fellow memers and together with them, she decides to obtain maximum dankness.

  • *Dabs not included*

  • And finally, number 1: Seven Deadly Sins

  • I think if you gotta build an entire plot revolving around betrayals,

  • Seven Deadly Sins is the one that hits the nail on the head the most.

  • The whole premiss of the show is about seven sins, those of people, knights more precisely,

  • who were accused of treason.

  • Thus began the journey of Elizabeth, a princess who's quest is solely to find them,

  • and use their talents to end the corruption, and save her kingdom.

  • How noble.

  • Again, the politricks betrayal seems like a really easy-to-reach topic.

  • If you've seen Arslan Senki and Akatsuki no Yona,

  • you got yourself another prime example of an anime with a story bigger than itself.

  • Thank God they announce the 2nd season soon cause I can't wait to know what happens next!

  • So how'd you like this video? Hated it, right?

  • How dare I disregard such anime like Code Geass or Attack on Titan.

  • uh, how can I put it, uh... Do you feel betrayed? ;)

  • Isn't that, in a sense, the whole point of this video?

  • Ehhh it could be reaching its straws but it's not like it really matters.

  • People are gonna be pissed off no matter what!

  • And if that's the case, then that means I did my job right! :D

  • Anyways, speaking of betrayal stuff,

  • If you're into Attack on Titan, my good buddy Jacob at Chibi Reviews did a really cool analysis

  • about something in season 2.

  • If you'd wanna check it out, I'll hook you guys up at the end card.

  • If not, you can always haul at my other top 10, you'll definietly find something new to watch.

  • Keep that procrastination going! Your boring task can wait some more!

  • See you soon! Love ya

  • Thanks for allowing me to subtitle this video!!!!!

  • This is my first time doing an ENTIRE subtitle for a video, and it was very fun!!!

  • I'll definitely do more subtitling for you anyday Misty!

  • Bye for now!! :DDD
