The standard is 2 years and 20 lbs but you actually want to go up to the limits of your car seat. So with this one it's 40 lbs or 43 inches so once you reach those you then can turn forward facing. Now in a car accident they are much safer if they're rear facing because their neck and spine are protected. So you really wanna keep them rear facing as long as possible. But now that you're ready to go forward facing, lets get into installation. Now since we're forward facing we don't need the infant insert, so we're gonna go ahead and take those out. These are for rear-facing only. Ok so now you wanna determine the appropriate level for a recline for your position. So there are 3 recline positions, you're gonna access that adjuster in the back and as you can see, you have 1 for forward facing only, 2 for rear and forward facing depending on your weight, and 3 is rear facing only. So for forward facing you wanna make sure it's in position 1 or 2
