of the Jurassic movies is that how they create dinosaur roars.

because no one really knows what dinosaurs really sounded like.

I mean, yeah. So.

Sound designers they recorded different animals,

is what I heard.

And then they slowed them down.

And then they mixed them together

to create the sounds that we hear in the movies.

So, I thought that it'd be fun, if you and I

tried to create our own dinosaur roar, right here tonight.

And it's fairly easy to do. -[ Laughs ] Sure.

-This app is called Samplebot, okay.

And I'm gonna record us making animal sounds.

As my guest, you're gonna start us off, okay.

I'll give you some animal sounds and we'll see.

Are you ready, give me your best lion.

One, two, three. -[ Imitates lion roaring ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

-Is that the microphone or is this the microphone?

-That doesn't matter what, if that or this, or that was,

that's almost like a dinosaur roar.

-Oh, good. Good. -That's fantastic.

Uh, okay. What do I -- I have a pig. Okay.

[ Clears throat ]

[ Imitates a pig snorting ]

[ Laughter ] [ Cheers and applause ]

-That's good! -Yeah?

-Yeah. -It's not bad?

-That's not bad. -I mean, I don't really, yeah.

-That's like a hog. -Thank you.

-Yeah. [ Laughs ] -[ Both laugh ]

-You're welcome. -That's so nice of you.

All right. Give me a dolphin, ready?

-Okay. -One, t--

I mean do you have a dolphin sound?

What does a dolphin? -I think so. Yeah.

-Okay, ready? One, two, three.

-[ Imitates dolphin clicking ]

Let me do it again! Let me do it again!

-No! -Ha! I don't get it.

Look at that little empty part! -No, that was perfect.

That's -- dolphins breathe. -Okay fine.

[ Laughter ]

-Okay, a cow. A cow?

They wouldn't use a cow sound would they?

-Yes. -They would?

-Yes. -Okay here's a cow sound.

-[ Imitates cow mooing ] [ Laughter ]

[ Laughs ]

All right. Oh, give me a cat sound.

-One, two, three. -[ Intimates cat growl ]

-Wow! -Oh!

-That was un-- unbelievable. -I've never done that before.

-When you see the show back, you're gonna freak out.

-Really?! -you just did a fantastic cat!

It was unbelievable. -Thank you!

-So much better than my cow. All right.

A whale.

I have to do a whale. A whale?

-I mean, what's the sound in the water and...

-Okay, a whale.

[ Imitates whale sound ] [ Laughs ]

Isn't like that? Like a [ vocalizes sadly ]

[ Light laughter ]

[ Continues vocalizing ] -I don't know.

I'm nodding my head, but I don't know.

-[ Both laugh ] -I have no idea.

-Oh, man. Well, all right. All right.

Now, let's see what these sound like if we change the pitch.

So here's your lion if we make it lower okay, ready?

-[ Lion recording plays ]

-That came out of this little person right here. Oh, my God.

-That sounds like really bad indigestion.

-All right. Here's a pig.

-[ Pig recording plays ]

-Wow this is great. -Impressive.

-A dolphin is... -[ Dolphin recording plays ]

[ Laughter ]

-A cow. -[ Cow recording plays ]

-Actually works. -A cat.

-[ Cat recording plays ] [ Laughter ]

-[ Cat recording plays ] [ Laughter ]

-I love that.

-[ DJs cat recording ]
