Hi there! I'm Mark from MarkTeacher.com and this is another high band IELTS
example answer. This IELTS speaking answer is about skills. What are more
important, academic skills or practical everyday skills?
I think they're both important, but they're both important at different
stages of your life. When you're younger and you're in education, I think academic
success is more important. Primarily because it's the only way that teachers
have to gauge your success. Your exam grades and your scores in tests and so
on, dictate what level you go to or how far you can succeed in your education. On
top of that, kids don't really have many opportunities to show off their
practical everyday skills, so they mainly focus on their academic prowess. On the
other hand, as they get older I think practical everyday skills do become
slightly more important. If you already found work and you've established a
career path, then getting better at that job becomes your primary goal so
learning to get better at your work, accomplished tasks more efficiently, take
on more responsibilities, and get the job done in the best way possible
is going to be more rewarding and more influential over your complete potential
in your - in your career path. So I think they're both important, but they're both
they both are important at different times of your life. If you want more
