I like the cool bamboo shoots that food vendors sell.

我喜歡小吃攤的涼竹筍

Served with just a little salad dressing,

沾點沙拉醬

they are unique, crispy, and refreshing.

口感獨特 清脆又涼爽

That's right.

Bamboo shoots are Taiwan's signature food.

竹筍的確是臺灣很有特色的食物

Tainan's Longci District

而臺南的龍崎區

is where bamboo shoots abound.

正是盛產竹筍的地方

In addition to bamboo shoots,

Longci offers many bamboo-related products.

龍崎還有很多跟竹子有關的東西喔

What are they?

是什麼呢

Bamboo grows quickly

竹子的生長速度快

and has tough fiber,

又有強韌的纖維

so it is a natural material

本來就是非常天然的材料

for many purposes.

But what has attracted attention recently

但近來更受到矚目的

is the bamboo charcoal.

What is it for?

燒焦的竹子能做什麼

The fire is not ordinary, that's for sure.

當然不是普通的火來燒竹子

The bamboo is burned to coals at a temperature

greater than 1000 degrees Celsius.

The bamboo coals are used to

filter and purify water,

可以拿來過濾 淨化水質

Yes, Longci has the unique landscape called

Longci also has many great scenic hiking trails.

在龍崎 也有很多可以踏青 觀景的步道

They're great for a casual walk on weekends

and for experiencing the mountains and forests.

Although it's in the mountains,

it's actually not as far as you might think it is.

但其實沒想像中遙遠呢

If you drive from Tainan's downtown area,
