different kinds of videos to help you become a more confident speaker now in
this video I'm going to be giving you five must know airplane vocabulary tips
what happens when you're finally ready to board the airplane so I'm gonna be
showing you some interesting words and vocabulary that will help you on an
airplane but here we go the first one is a little bit before you start to board
when you are outside waiting at the gate okay if you don't know what a gate is
this is an example of a gate it's basically where you will enter the
airplane there's a number and that's your gate the first thing you need to
know is that there is a pre boarding process you will listen to e
pre-boarding message okay there are many different kinds of pre-boarding messages
but one example is this is the pre boarding announcement for flight abd
2627 to Montreal we are now inviting all those passengers with small children and
any passengers requiring special assistance to begin boarding at gate 21
please have your boarding pass and identification or passports regular
boarding will begin approximately in ten minutes
thank you so this is a pre-boarding announcement so pay attention when they
start the pre-boarding they are usually asking for specific
people with children passengers with children passengers with special
needs so if that's not your case wait up because soon you are going to be called
well not your name okay boarding announcement which is the next step
attention passengers traveling to the 235 flight ABD 2627 is now boarding at
gate 21 please have your boarding pass and passports ready for boarding at
this time they will start asking people to board so pay attention follow the
instructions you hear and the last call what is a last call this usually happens
if you're late - - huh the last call happens when everybody in the flight has already
boarded except you the attendants will wait a little longer for you and in the
meantime they will be announcing your name so that you can hear from wherever
you are at the airport so that's what we call last call the message is usually
like this this is the final boarding call for passenger James William to
flight ABD 26 27 to Montreal please proceed to gate 21 immediately the final
checks are being completed and the captain will order for the aircraft
doors to close in approximately five or ten minutes I repeat this is the final
boarding call for James William thank you my friend if you hear your name at
the airport run okay run for the gate they are not gonna wait
for you any longer okay this happened to me in Miami and it
was hard I ran a lot to get to my flight nice moving on the second vocabulary tip
entering the plane finally you're entering the plane this is so exciting
what do you need to know the flight attendant this person right here yes the
flight attendant will probably be at the door greeting you, saying good morning
saying hello saying welcome greeting you so at this
moment it's time should look at your boarding pass and check your seat number
if you have problems to find your seat number you can ask for the flight
attendant's help so now one thing you need to see is there are aisles on an
airplane and on these aisles that are seats okay we have three kinds of seats we
have a window seat a middle seat and an aisle seat which one is your favorite
let me know here in the comments once you find your seat and you sit down
there are some things you need to check remember if you have a carry-on luggage
where do you put it hmm as you can see here on the screen you will have an
overhead bin where you can put your luggage okay another important thing is
sometimes you may be seated near emergency exit rows if that happens to
you and you feel uncomfortable sitting near emergency exits you may ask the
flight attendants to find you a new seat and it's okay they will do it another
important thing that you need to know actually you need to know this before
you buy your ticket there are two kinds of seats standard seats and bulkhead
seats well when I say two kinds I'm usually referring to the economy class
okay we have the economy class which is the popular seats available to people
like you and me then we have a business class we have the first class so there
are different kinds of classes inside an airplane and the price and the comfort
will vary depending on the money you pay for it okay depending on the class you
choose but usually on an economy class you have two kinds of seats what's the
difference basically a bulkhead seat has more legroom has more space for your
legs let's imagine you're sitting and now you are comfortably sitting on your
seat if you look up there is a passenger service unit what's this this
is an overhead panel okay and in this panel there are some things you need to
become familiar with you can find in flight reading light or you can find a
button to push and then there will be light for you if you want to read
something during your flight there is a flight attendant call button push the
button then the flight attendant will see it and will come to you to ask if
you need anything it's also there where you can find oxygen masks in case
there's any turbulence okay very nice moving on number three safety message
safety messages are becoming very modern and people usually watch a video where a
flight attendant is giving instructions safety security instructions what to do
important messages before the plane takes off but you can also find
somewhere near your seat you can find a piece of paper with a step by step safety
instruction as well one thing that at this time the flight attendants will
start telling you is to fasten your seat belt okay number four pilot pre-take-off
announcement it's almost time to take off take off is a phrasal verb it's what
the plane will do okay to start the trip the plane
will take off but before that happens the pilot usually gives a pre takeoff
announcement they say good morning ladies and gentlemen
they say their name who they are and they talk a little bit about the weather
conditions they talk a little bit about how long the flight is going to be and
that is pretty much it and then the pilot usually tells the cabin crew what
is a cabin crew the flight attendants the team of flight attendants that's the
cabin crew okay so the pilot usually tells the flight
attendants to get ready for takeoff number five during the flight there are
some words they need to become familiar okay for example turbulence turbulence
is that discomfort some problems that the plane may face during a flight which
is usually what we call turbulence and finally two other words you need to know
in flight entertainment and refreshments in-flight entertainment is basically the
the entertainment the things the airplane offers you to do during the
flight like watching movies listening to music this is what we call in-flight
entertainment and refreshments well, food. excellent now you know the five must
know airplane vocabulary tips you are ready to board thank you so much friends
and I'll see you next time bye
