Cart Before the Horse. \" Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. If someone puts

the cart before the horse he or she is not doing things in the proper order.

You know obviously this alludes to the idea that you know, if you actually put

the cart in front of the horse that wouldn't make sense because the horse is

the one that pulls the cart. So you're not doing it in the correct order. The

horse has to go in front of the cart because the horse has to be the one to

pull the cart. So this is what we mean. We're telling something you're not doing

something in the right order and you know this is going to cause a problem

because you're not doing it in the right order. Let's continue. The earliest

citing of this proverb goes back to a quote from Cicero you know, a Roman

politician, famous orator is great speaker and philosopher in 44 BC . So all

right. Let's take a look at the quote. They have here. \"We put the cart before the

horse and shut the stable door when the steed is stolen in defiance of the old

proverb. \" So he is covering a number of things here. Again he was probably

complaining about the government maybe they were doing things in the wrong

order. Or you know, shut the stable door. A stable that's where you keep horses and the

steed is the type of horse. So if a steed was stolen, it's already stolen. Now

you're closing the door that it's stolen. Well it's too late. They already stole

the horse. So you don't close the ... you don't need to close the door now because

there's no horse left anymore. So again it's also in the wrong order too.

So he's complaining. This is one of his said quotes. We put the cart before the

horse and shut the stable door when the steed you know, when this steed is stolen.

When it's gone, in defiance of the old proverb.

So in this suggestion this is actually suggested that this this proverb was

probably around for a while. Even in his time, but this is the early

citing we have. A first time we can actually find it in writing.

All right. Let's uh let's look. We have three examples here. Example number one.

It is too soon to propose to her . You just started dating and maybe the only

starting a few weeks and maybe this guy he wants to propose already. And somebody is

saying you need time to let your relationship grow deeper. Don't put the

cart before the horse and don't think don't put things out of order. So you

need more time to get a deeper relationship before you can propose. Okay.

Good. Let's look at number two. Many of China's ghost cities. So years ago we were

hearing a lot of news about their ghost cities. I don't know maybe they filled

more of them now, but for a long time they built all these very fancy kind of

expensive and ghost cities with nobody living in them. So , so many of the Chinese

ghost cities was a case or you could say like an example, of putting the cart

before the horse. They should have waited until there was enough demand to fill

most of those cities before building them. Yeah. That is there is a number of

issues with this too. We all know that when you build a building, if nobody

lives in it, it causes damage. You need people to use it. Just like a machine if

it sits too long some things actually break down or don't work right. So so you

should really have had the demand you should have had the people ready to be

you know, buying it and moving in or you know very soon after it was built.

Not, not build it first and then wait for many years before people will move in

there. Okay. Good and number three here. You are not supposed to quit your

present job until you have another one lined up ready. So you know maybe you can

quit like with a week difference in between but you already know that you're

starting this other job soon after it. You know , you don't just quit the job first. Yes. So

again. It's out of order. You get the new job then you quit this job and then you

you go from there. Don't put the cart before the horse.
