  • lag behind. So you lag behind someone or you lag behind something. All right. Let's

  • take a look at the note here. If someone or something lags behind , he or she makes

  • less progress or is less successful in comparison to others. All right. So that's

  • one meaning. That's one way we use it or we could mean more physically. To move

  • more slowly than other people or things. You could lag behind as well. All right. So

  • let's look at the first example here. Your son is lagging behind the other

  • students in his class. Meaning his grades are not as as good. He's not performing

  • as well. He's not learning as much. He's lagging behind the class. All right. Let's

  • look at number two. Our sales are lagging behind last year's totals. So we're not

  • doing as well as we would at the same time last year or the same season. Okay

  • or number three. Here, I was too exhausted from going out the night before. I lagged

  • behind my friends when we were hiking up the mountain. So maybe you're just like (gasping noises )
