Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Verb Phrase 78. The verb phrase today is lie
ahead. So we say it may say something lies ahead or some event lies ahead. All
right. Let's take a look at the note here. If a problem, situation etc. lies ahead
that is what will happen in the future, or it may be something that someone will
experience in the future. So, so a problem could lie ahead. A situation could lie
ahead and events could lie ahead. All right. Let's take a look at a couple of
examples here. Number one. Some business analysts predict a huge economic crash
much larger than 2008 lies ahead. Meaning it's going to be coming. They're not
saying exactly the exact date that it's going to be here. But it lies ahead. They
could see it. They could forecast it. That it will be coming, in the coming months or
possibly in the coming year or so. That's what they say that it lies ahead. Okay.
Let's take a look at number two. If North Korea completely denuclearizes. Yeah. It
gets rid of all its nuclear sites. Reunification of the two Koreas may lie
ahead in the coming years. Well a lot of people are hopeful that this may happen.
We still have to see. They still may be far away. Maybe it will take some years
or you know maybe a number of years before this happens. But it looks like it
could possibly lead to that. It may lie ahead. Okay. Anyway, I hope you got it . hope
it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye- bye.
