Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Quotes 186. Today, the quote is by
Stephen King he's an American author probably the most famous American author
in our modern times today. Of course, he started off writing a lot
of horror books, but he really branched into many areas, and he's probably the most
well known modern-day writer. That's still alive. Okay.
Anyway. Let's continue. Let's look at his quote. Here's the quote. " Talent is cheaper
than table, "salt And table salt, of course is supposed to be very cheap. "What separates
the talented from the successful one is a lot of hard work. " Okay.
Let's look at the note here. What Stephen King is trying to say is that even
though talent is great and it is surely an advantage over others who are not so
talented , it cannot lead to success by itself. Without a strong work ethic or
determination, many of us will fall short of our expectations.
There are many who were born with great talents that never become fruitful. So
they never produce anything. Never really become that successful. This idea is
similar with Thomas Edison's quote " Genius is 1% inspiration and 99%
perspiration. " Yeah this was an earlier quote. I did quite a while ago. Again
remember, his, his point is that the inspiration is the idea that you come up
with , but it's really the perspiration represented sweat. Which represented hard
work. So it's right along the same line. Okay. Let's continue. In life many people
like to use talent of others as an excuse as to why those few are
successful and they are not. Not realizing that talent must also be
backed up by effort and determination. Yeah. So again the talent
can't do it by itself. It has to be supported, It has to be backed up by effort
and determination. Sometimes hard work can even make up for a lack of talent.
Not completely , but it can help. More hard work sometimes can overcome some lack of
talent. Okay. Anyway I hope it's clear. I hope you got it. I hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
