Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Proverbs 142. The proverb today is when life
gives you lemons make lemonade. Okay, good. It's kind of an inspirational quote.
Let's take a look at the note here. This proverb is basically telling you that
you should make the best out of life of whatever you're given. We are not all
born with equal skills, talents, abilities advantages in life,
wealth etc. Were all born into different classes. Some of us are richer or middle
class or poor. We're not all equal as far as this is concerned. However most of us
are given some qualities others don't have. So even if you've gotten a lot of
disadvantages, even if you're you know not equal to other people maybe you have
some qualities you could use. You can figure out a way to turn it around and
use it to your advantage. So that's what we mean. This proverb is telling you to
figure out a way to use that to your advantage. This is even more true if you
have suffered more than one's share of difficulties or misfortunes. Figure out a
way. Figure out a way to use it. Maybe you could use it to you know, write a book
become an actor. You know a lot of actors actually look for experiences like this
and I think it they, they can find a way to express it. Use your experience of
pain or adversity to teach help or warn others. You know to avoid bad situations
or possibly being an inspiration to them. Okay. So this is what we mean. You know,
find a way. If you're given hard , hard things in life or difficulties in life
or unfair in one way or another find a way to use it and bring it to your
advantage. Make something good out of it. All right. Let's continue. Why do we say
lemons in this quote ? Okay. Lemons are suggestive of something that by itself
is sour. Most people won't eat a lemon straight. Or I don't
know, if you've ever tried but it's really bitter and it usually makes you
make an unhappy face. Like sometimes on the Internet they show this. Maybe the
first time they've given a little baby a lemon and see the baby's natural
expression. You know, He doesn't even realize it yet,
but he makes a ... we sometimes even say a sourpuss to mean an unhappy face. Okay.
Let's, let's continue. But you could take those lemons and turn them into lemonade.
Okay. Which is a sweet pleasant thirst-quenching drink. Or maybe also
healthy. You know if you don't put too much sugar in it. It's maybe, it's maybe
pretty healthy too. So you can take something that tasted bitter that you
know , would you know, makes you kind of cringe when you when you taste it. But
you could turn into and you can make something great out of it. Yes. So this is
what we mean. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Okay. All right. Let's continue.
This phrase was first coined by Elbert Hubbard. Okay. In an obituary he wrote for
Marshall Pinckney Wilder. Yeah. I think he was a writer and then the , the
Marshall Pinckney Wilder, I think was an actor who suffered a lot in his life or
had a lot of difficulties in life and he was referring to that. That he figured
out a way to take those difficulties and make something good out of them . All right.
Let's continue.
Vujicic I don't know. I'm probably not pronouncing his name right. He was born without arms or legs . He
didn't let it get him down. Okay. He used his disabilities to become a
great inspirational you know , a great inspirational speaker. You may have seen
him before. I think he's originally from Australia
and he went all around the world you know , saying how he figured out too you
know to have a way to have a normal life and you know, how he could overcome these
difficulties and try to encourage people. So again he
took something that was very difficult you know, being born with no arms and no
legs and figured out a way to make something good out of it. So we could say
he's a perfect example of when life gives you lemons learn or figure out
a way to make lemonade. Okay. Anyway , I hope you got it. I hope it's clear thank
you for your time. Bye-bye.
