Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Quotes 205. Today we have another one by
Ben Franklin or Benjamin Franklin. And like I've said in many videos I've done
a lot by him already. So if you like this one go back and check some of the
previous ones. He always has good quotes and he always has something good to say.
All right. Let's look at today's quote. Today's quote is ' Keep your eyes wide
open before marriage and half shot afterwards. " Okay. It's actually a little
humorous at the same time. Let's continue with the note here. With the first part
of this quote Ben Franklin he's warning you to be very careful who you choose
for a marriage partner. It is supposed to be a lifetime commitment. So you better
make the right choice. So you had better choose wisely. Keep in mind the term
marriage material. You know does that person have the qualities that's
suitable for a husband or wife. Okay. Let's go on. Does this person have the
qualities you want in spouse ? Does he or she have the qualities to deal with
difficult times that we all sooner or later face in a marriage ? Okay good, and
the second part of the quote is advising you to overlook or not let small or
trivial annoyances become a big problem in your marriage. Nobody is perfect. You
won't get a perfect person. So there will always be some, at least there will be
some minor issues. If there's some minor issues don't pick on them. Don't nag on
them. That's why you know keep your eyes half shut pretend you don't see them. Let
minor things go pretend you don't see them. You know, just go on. Allow enough
freedom and for a marriage to go smoothly. Basically
that's what he's trying to let you know with this quote. It's very good quote.
Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it's clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
