Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles HOW TO ROCK NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: JOSEPH: New student orientation is an opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with campus before the start of the semester. Plus, don't forget, it's a requirement for all new Wildcats. JACKIE: New students should attend new student orientation because it's a great way for them to be exposed to a lot of resources so they can feel more comfortable before attending on the first day of school. JOSEPH: During new student orientation, you'll take your Cat Card photo, meet with your academic advisor, create your schedule, as well as meet other students in your major. JACKIE: Throughout the day, new students are also able to speak to orientation welcome leaders who are also students at the U of A and we can help them answer questions about what our favorite traditions are, what we like to eat on campus, or anything else that can help them ease in that transition to college. JOSEPH: To make the most out of orientation, ask a lot of questions, utilize your resources, and branch out. Get to know as many people as you can. You'll also learn about financial aid, scholarships, meal plans, housing, tutoring, clubs and much more. During new student orientation, you'll be taking your CatCard photo. My advice: don't forget to smile! Remember this will be your official UA ID for the next four years. One piece of advice I would give new students is to download the Arizona mobile app. You'll have access to a calendar as well as an interactive map which you can use to explore campus during your free time at orientation. One of my favorite things about being a Wildcat is ZonaZoo. It's one of the largest and loudest student cheering sections in the PAC 12 and you'll have an opportunity to sign up for it at new student orientation. JACKIE: Students sign up for orientation by logging into the Next Steps Center and choosing the preferred date that works for them. Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Arizona; you're going to love being a Wildcat. JOSPEH: Get ready to have the time of your life. Bear down.
