Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Quotes 260. The quote today is by Jeremy Lin. It's
first time we are doing a quote by him. Of course a famous NBA basketball player.
Okay. Let's take a look at the note here. Here is his quote, " You don't get better if
you win all the time, you look at yourself more when you lose. " Okay. Let's
take a look at this. Jeremy Lin rose to stardom in 2012 with an incredible hot
streak to become the first American you know, Chinese, Taiwanese basketball player.
You know, especially that grew up in the US. Not just ... Yeah. That just really kind
of imported and you know signing a contract. He's the first one that really
grew up in the US. Okay good. He started a global craze and picked up
the nickname, Linsanity. Yeah. So yeah during 2012 he
was really super hot at that time. But anyway let's continue with the quote
here for now. What Jeremy Lin is trying to say with this quote is that losing is
not always a bad thing. If we can be more reflective. You know, think back on it and
learn from our losses or failures that is the time we can grow. If we choose to
be honest with ourselves and admit flaws that may have led to losses, this is the
time to improve ourselves. Our losses teach us humility. Yeah. Definitely. And if
we use these experiences the right way, it can help to make us better. It is a
little similar to the proverb you know, we covered or I covered in other videos
before. When life gives you lemons make lemonade. Try to make the best of it. You
know by learning about it. Because if you don't, a loss is just a loss.
But if you, if you if you look at it you examine it and you try to learn from it
then you can make something good out of it. Our experiences good or bad are meant
to teach us. Another aspect of Jeremy Lin was not only his ability to play but
also his maturity and deep-seated religious background which really made
him appear like a genuinely good person and worthy of being a role model. Which
is not easy to come by these days. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope you found it
informative. Thank you for your time. Bye- bye.
