  • If there's one thing I know, it is

  • that my friends at Shutterfly love giving money away

  • to deserving people.

  • If there's another thing I know, it's

  • that I love playing games that are nearly impossible to win.

  • That's why today, Shutterfly is sponsoring

  • the hardest game in daytime television, Holey Roller.

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • Sophie Santana, where are you?

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • That's you!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Hi!

  • Hello!

  • Hi, Sophie Santana.

  • Ah!

  • Ow!

  • Ow!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Don't have a baby right now.

  • Oh, no!

  • How far along are you?

  • I'm five months.

  • Oh, my God!

  • All right, settle down.

  • I don't want to have to deliver a baby.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • No.

  • Hi, Sophie.

  • Your eyes are so pretty!

  • Oh, thank you.

  • Oh, my God, I love blues eyes.

  • Thank you.

  • It's not going to help you win anymore.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • It's OK.

  • It's OK.

  • Yes, flattery will get you nowhere.

  • All right, hi, Sophie.

  • Here's how the game works.

  • All you have to do is roll this ball into the hole.

  • If you do that, you're going to win a prize.

  • I'm going to show you how easy it is.

  • I'm going to stand here.

  • You stand right there.

  • Yeah, that's where I'll be.

  • And you'll be here.

  • And then you just roll it.

  • And then-- oh, that's close.

  • But, no.

  • But it's pretty close.

  • All right, you want to see what you're playing for?

  • Yes.

  • OK, let's see.

  • OK.

  • Ah!

  • Yes, yes.

  • All right, Sophie, all right, what I did was I rolled it.

  • And I kind of aimed.

  • But I didn't take the time to really aim it.

  • So what I want you to do is stand right there,

  • take the ball, and I want you to really focus.

  • And I want you to, when you think about it--

  • all right.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • Are you ready?

  • I'm ready.

  • All right.

  • Do I go?

  • Well, yeah.

  • I mean, I want to really think about.

  • Wait, hold on one second.

  • How's Liani doing?

  • She's fine.

  • Is she good?

  • Yeah.

  • Oh, good.

  • How old is she again?

  • She's four.

  • Four, oh that's great.

  • OK, let's go.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • OK.

  • Don't you want to know how I know about Liani?

  • I do!

  • But I don't want to interrupt you.

  • Yeah, no.

  • That's so sweet of you.

  • No, I got a letter from a friend of yours.

  • I carry it around in my pocket all the time.

  • And so the fact that you're here today is such a coincidence.

  • "Dear Ellen, my name is Jalincia.

  • And I am writing to you about my best friend, Sophie.

  • For years Sophie and her family have been

  • struggling to make ends meet.

  • They both work so hard to take care

  • of their beautiful daughter, Liani.

  • But they can't catch a break.

  • They're also expecting their second child in June.

  • Sophie is such a giver."

  • Oh, that's me.

  • Don't interrupt.

  • I'm talking.

  • [LAUGHTER]

  • I'm sorry.

  • I'm sorry.

  • I'm so sorry.

  • "They can't catch a break.

  • They're also expecting their second child in June.

  • Sophie is such a giver.

  • And despite being in need herself,

  • she constantly volunteers at homeless shelters.

  • Because that's the kind of person she is.

  • She's going back to school to become a social worker so she

  • can continue to help others.

  • Please find it in your heart to help her."

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • So, OK.

  • Thank you.

  • All right.

  • Now, you can see better.

  • I don't want you to be--

  • OK.

  • And also, that just sounds really sweet.

  • So I'm going to raise the money.

  • You want to see what I'm going to raise it to?

  • Let's see.

  • OK.

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • OK.

  • OK.

  • Now, you just have to get that ball in that hole.

  • And then you'll get $15,000.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • OK.

  • Are you ready?

  • Yes.

  • Do I go.

  • Yeah.

  • OK.

  • Wait.

  • No pressure.

  • But this is a big moment.

  • It is.

  • OK.

  • I just feel like I'm here to cheer you on.

  • I want someone else to be here to cheer you on

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • Say hi!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Hi, Ellen.

  • Hi.

  • Hi, Liani.

  • OK, all right.

  • OK.

  • All right, are you ready?

  • I can't do this crying.

  • OK.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • You're so adorable.

  • Thank you.

  • OK.

  • I want to raise money one more time.

  • One more time.

  • OK, let's see how much.

  • OK.

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • OK.

  • Say, good luck, mommy.

  • Good luck, mommy.

  • OK, for real this time.

  • Get ready.

  • OK.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • Get ready.

  • OK.

  • Get set.

  • No, we have to get a break.

  • All right.

  • Because it sounds like Jalincia is such a sweet person.

  • How often do you see her?

  • We don't get to see each other often.

  • Her husband's military.

  • Oh, I'd love to meet her.

  • She's awesome.

  • Yeah, Jalincia, come on out.

  • No!

  • Oh!

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • No!

  • Hi!

  • Hi!

  • When we come back-- hi!

  • Oh, my God!

  • How are you?

  • When we come back, Sophie's going to roll for $20,000,

  • all right?

  • You have time to think about it.

  • We'll be right back.

  • We're back with Sophie, her daughter, Liani,

  • and her best friend, Jalincia.

  • And before you roll-- there's a microphone,

  • because you're not miced.

  • I want you to answer this question for me.

  • How come you want to go back to school and be a social worker?

  • So well, when I was five years old, my mother

  • and I, our family, we lived in a shelter, a homeless shelter.

  • And it was during that time when there

  • were programs like Big Brother Big Sister that would

  • come to the shelter and visit.

  • And that really impacted me and it made me realize that,

  • at that age, even, that there were resources that were

  • out there for people like us.

  • And so now, I'm going to social work for mental health

  • and substance abuse.

  • Because I want to help the veterans.

  • Because the veterans I feel like they need someone

  • to advocate for them.

  • And they need a lot of help.

  • My dad was a--

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • My dad is retired Air Force.

  • And so, honestly, my whole family on both sides

  • are military affiliated.

  • So I feel like they need someone to advocate for them.

  • And that's going to be me.

  • Good for you.

  • [INAUDIBLE]

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • You have a good mommy.

  • That's a good mommy.

  • All right, so let me take the mic.

  • Back and now, I want to raise the money again.

  • So let's see what you're playing for for real.

  • Oh, my God!

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • Oh!

  • Oh!

  • Come on, sister!

  • Are you a good bowler?

  • Are you good?

  • This is a tough game.

  • It's the toughest game in television.

  • That's what we've named it.

  • All right, ready.

  • [DRUM ROLL]

  • For real this time.

  • OK.

  • When you're ready.

  • Oh, my God.

  • Oh, my God!

  • [APPLAUSE]

  • [MUSIC PLAYING]

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Oh, my God!

  • Wow!

  • Wow!

  • [INAUDIBLE] sister!

  • Oh, my God!
