Hey I'm Karan I did the 2018 Cambridge Half Marathon this year
well a someone who's not really run before it was a really cool personal
challenge and it surprised a lot of my friends and family but in a good
way because I also raised money for charity and because people knew it was such such
a big challenge for me that they were really generous with their donations
I first started running that park run which is a weekly local free community
5k and it was just a really nice vibe there everyone's really friendly and
supportive and you get time each week so then each week you've got a target of
what to get and get getting a new PB is such such great feeling.
So I normally run
three times a week I normally do two shorter sessions during
the week in the evening because I'm not a morning person at all
and then I was to do a longer run at the weekend I first started struggling to
to do 5ks but then I slowly built up the distance. It took about 10
to 12 weeks but it was definitely worth it for come around race day
I was so nervous when I first signed up for the Cambridge Half Marathon as I had no
idea what to expect cause yeah like i mentioned before I've
never really run before used to hate cross country at school used to like
walk as much as possible so to sign up to do 13 mile run was a big big step for
me but I grew confidence as my training went on as I as I did
longer distances I was a little bit nervous before race day but mainly just
excited to do it and I absolutely loved it.
my biggest supporters have been my
family especially my parents my dad came to watch me do the Cambridge Half
and my mum has watched me at loads of other races since.
Yeah I'll say prepare well by making sure you do a mix of training
because if you haven't done any kind of long runs so make sure you kind of
have to do a couple runs that are close to the distant between eight to
ten miles and that will set you in a good start come race day and all
your hard work will pay off on race day that's what's it's all for
I completely loved the Cambridge Half Marathon then I done two more in 2018. I did the Hackney half in May and I
also did the Ealing half in September and in each one
I've got quick as well just really great
My PB at the moment is one hour 48 minutes
I did the Cambridge Half in an hour and 53 minutes and then the
Hackney Half in an hour and 50 minutes and then I got it down to
an hour 48 minutes in Ealing which i was
really happy with
