Problems, problems, problems. There are so many problems that we face in our lives. Marital
friction, money issues, bad day at work because of your horrible boss or misunderstandings
with friends or aging parents. As I said that there are so many problems that we face. So
few words of reassurance or support from someone can make a big difference to get through these
tough times.
HI everyone thanks for clicking, I am Niharika. Well in today's lesson, we are gonna look
at some phrases for reassurance. Now there are times when we face a lot of problems and
few words of support and reassurance makes a difference. Like when you were a kid, you
stumbled while playing, tears streamed down, blood streamed down. but your mother's words
reassuring you that everything is going to be fine made a difference and guess what you
survived that painful event. So even as adults, if you reassure someone, support them then
people would definitely face their challenges with head on. So here are 5 phrases that you
could use to reassure people in their bad times.
The very first phrase that I have for you, is don't worry you will be fine. It is a very
simple phrase that you can use for someone, a friend, a family member or a business colleague
who is facing a difficult situation in their life. So for example, uh... let's say, a person
is worrying too much, she's your friend and she's worrying too much for her aging parents
and you want to be there for her and you want to use nice, supporting, reassuring words.
so a very simple one that you can use is, that don't worry you will be fine because
here you are giving her the confidence that one day this situation will be fine, okay.
So when you want to give confidence or show confidence in the situation, then you can
use the phrase that don't worry, you will be fine or you can say don't worry, it will
be fine. So you are showing confidence in the situation that eventually the result will
be good, will be positive and not negative, that would make a difference in her or his
life.
The second expression that you can use to reassure someone is, you are doing the best
you can. Now there are times when people face problems like a bad marriage, okay. Your friend
is having a very bad marriage. All she does is argues with her husband and probably they
might file for a divorce too. But here you want to appreciate and you want to show that
yes we identify and appreciate that you are doing the best you can. So this is again a
great phrase to use to reassure people. So if you think that a friend or a family member
is going through certain issues and you are able to identify that look, you are doing
your best, then use this phrase that you are doing the best you can, okay.
Another phrase that you can use to reassure someone, is let me give you a hug. Now this
may sound very silly, oh come on, let me give you a nice, warm hug. But it makes a difference,
it has great impact. A warm hug. Now of course you can't randomly hug anyone. Okay come let
me give you a nice, warm hug. No you can’t do that. Just do it with your friends. Okay
just give a nice, warm hug to your friends or your family members or someone you are
close to. Okay so a small physical gesture would make that person feel much better. so
if that person is going through some problems and if you say that come one let me give you
a hug, it's a nice physical gesture that you are showing to show your support and the confidence
that yes this person will get through this difficult time. So that's how you can reassure
someone.
The fourth phrase that you can use is, I know this is hard and then you need to add a positive
statement. So here what you are doing is, you agreed that yes you are facing a difficult
situation but then add a positive statement, for example, that I know this is hard but
you are not alone. For example, your friend is trying to take up a job and you know has
been really exhausted finding jobs and is not able to crack any jobs. So yes it is a
difficult time that your friend is facing, so you are gonna empathize. Okay you are gonna
put yourself in that person's shoes and you are gonna say, I know this is hard. So here
you are empathizing. You realize that this is not easy for that other person. so you
are empathizing by saying yes, I know this is hard but now you need to add a positive
statement that you are not alone or you can say, you can ask for help from others, okay.
You can ask for help or you can take help. Okay so always add a positive statement to
this kind of a phrase. Alright and then we have the fifth phrase which I am always there
for you. Yes, now you wanna show that you are a great friend or a great companion and
you wanna show that you are there. So whatever the situation is, whatever the issue or the
problem is, you are gonna stand by this person and try to face this challenge hand in hand.
So this is a more supporting, it gives confidence and support to that other person who is going
through a bad time. So if you think that your friend or your family member needs you okay,
needs you to be there with him or her, then you can use the phrase I am always there for
you, okay.
So these are the five phrases that you can use when someone is having a bad time in their
life. A very simple one is, dont worry you will be fine or it will be fine. The other
one that you can use is, you are doing the best you can, so you are appreciating here,
okay. The third one is, let me give you a hug. So it's a nice physical gesture , a warm
hug will make a difference. The fourth one is, I know this is hard, yes you are empathizing
but also add a positive statement along with this phrase and then the fifth phrase that
I have for you is, I’m always there for you. So you are always there to support this
person.
So start using them, we are all nice human beings and it's always nice to be nice to
others and use these phrases. Hope they are helpful, I’ll be back with a new lesson,
till then you take care.
