My name is Richard McMunn and I am very passionate about helping people to pass their interviews.

in your interview.

OK.
Let's get straight into it.
So, people say to me: “Richard, should I ask any questions at my interview?”
And I say “yes, absolutely you should!”
Some people don't.
They like to say “No, it's OK.
I don’t have any questions, you've covered everything.”
But this is your opportunity to shine.
This is your opportunity to show you are a smart, intelligent and caring person.
So, the aim of these three questions I'm about to give you are designed to put you ahead
of the competition.
So, how many questions should you ask?
It's my advice that you ask three questions, and these are the questions to ask.
So, take notes.
Question number one – “What's the first thing you would need me to focus on in this
role to help your business grow and develop?”
That's a brilliant question!
And if you were being interviewed by me and you asked me that question, I'd think this
is a smart person and that you care about my organization.
So, it's “What's the first thing you would need me to focus on in this role to help your
business grow and develop?”
Now there are three reasons why this is a great question to ask.
Number one - this question shows you are keen to hit the ground running and you are already
thinking about the role.
Number two - the question shows you care about their organization and you want to make a
difference, and every employer, every hiring manager wants staff who care about their organization.
Number three - this question gets the interview panel thinking about you within the role and
how you can help them.
So, “What's the first thing you would need me to focus on?”
So, they have to think about you in the role and your skills and qualities that you've
demonstrated during the interview.
And that can only be a positive thing!
Okay.
Question number two of questions to ask in your interview.
Here we go.
“Where do you think the company is headed in the next five years?”
Now this is a very intelligent question as well, because it serves three main purposes.
Here we go.
This question shows the interview panel you are a forward-thinking employee who is positive
about the future.
So, you are thinking ahead which, is a good thing.
It also demonstrates you have a keen interest in what the company plans to do in the future.
So, you actually care about them.
So, it shows you plan on staying with them as well for a few years, which to be honest,
is really attractive to virtually all employers and hiring managers.
They don't want people coming through their organization who are going to come for a few
months and then leave, they what people are going to stay there.
And this question certainly demonstrates that.
So, “Where do you think the company is headed in the next five years?”
Great question.
Okay.
Question number three: “Who do you consider to be your top competitor and why?”
Another smart question and here are the reasons why.
So, “Who do you consider to be your top competitor and why?”
Now this question shows you have an interest in the performance of their organization,
which puts you above the majority of candidates in respect of mindset.
So, you're thinking ahead strategically about, you know, the organization's competitors and
what you could do to help them.
All businesses have competitors, it's a fact, and all staff should be working towards helping
the business to outperform the competitor.
And that's what you'll demonstrate - the interview panel know that you are aware that they have
competitors and you want to help them.
Number three - the question shows you are smarter than the rest of the candidates, simply
because you care.
