Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles breaking news in Ontario, the province has confirmed three new cases off the Corona virus. Jacqueline Hansen is following the story for us. So Jacqueline, what are you learning? Well, rt Of these three new cases, two of the people infected had traveled to Iran. So that's a commonality we've been hearing in several of the recent cases that have tested positive in Canada. So with with these three, we have one in York region, which is north of Toronto. It's a 34 year old woman in Ajax, a 55 year old woman, and those are the two people who travel to Iran. The third is the 69 year old husband of that Ajax woman who wasn't traveling with her. But we know that Iran has become a real hot spot for this outbreak. The three latest people in Ontario to test positive they have been sent home to self isolate. But we are learning details of one of the woman's journey, essentially before she tests or she sought medical attention. So the woman in York region in her thirties York region officials say that she developed symptoms prior to her return from Iran and was symptomatic on the flight on February 25th and it had a layover in Denmark, they noted. On February 26 she used public transit ago bus from the airport in Toronto. So York region is telling anyone who traveled in the business class section specifically of three flights. Qatar Airways Flight Cure for 83 Q R 163 and an Air Canada flight as well. Those details are on the York region Web site. If anyone wants to reference those as well as on, they're also telling people on the go bust a specific go bus who were sitting in a specific section, the upper deck. They're saying that these people may have bean exposed to Covad 19 on, and they're asking them to contact York region Public Health. So check that website. If any of that sounds like it could be a possibility. But in the news release from York region, also stressing to residents that the risk continues to remain low and there's no evidence of community spread within York region. Arthuis So a lot of developments on this story today in Canada. Now the total is 20 cases in this country because in addition to those cases in Ontario. We also got an update from B. C's provincial health officers. So what did we hear on that front? We now know that there are eight positive cases of Cove in 19 in British Columbia. This is a woman, the latest a woman in her sixties. She is from Tehran, and she's visiting family in the province. Officials there say that she is inside a cell isolation at home as well, and that it is a relatively mild case. Take a listen to more from the provincial health officer on what they're doing in that province and what they're telling travelers. We continue to be in this phase of being highly vigilant, watching carefully, making sure that people who are sick, who have traveled at all are tested and isolated. And we continue to ask people to do that. We know that this is changing around the world globally, so we want everybody to take the actions that we need to keep our communities and our family safe. And even if you haven't traveled, if you're sick, please stay away from others. But, Artie, there is some good news from both of the provinces. The 1st 4 cases in BC have now are now fully recovered, and the 1st 3 cases in in Ontario are fully recovered as well. All right, thank you for this, Jacqueline. You're welcome. Ah, bigger foothold there, too. The first death of an American on U. S. Soil was reported today. President Donald Trump has been criticized for his response to the growing problem. He's downplayed the danger and called concern about the spread of the disease, a hoax cooked up by Democrats and the media today. Reacting to the first death, Trump said he stands by his charges of a hoax, pokes referring to the action that they take to try and pin this on somebody because we've done such a good job, the hoaxes on them not I'm not talking about what's happening here. I'm talking what they're doing. That's the hoax. That's just a continuation of the hoax, whether it's, uh, the impeachment hoax or the Russia Russia, Russia hope this is what I'm talking about. certainly not referring to this. How could anybody refer to this? This is very serious stuff, but the way they refer to it, because these people have done such an incredible job and I don't like it when they are criticizing these people, and that's the hopes that now. Trump also announced a ban on travel to Iran, where there is a major outbreak. His administration will also heightened warnings to Americans about travel to parts of South Korea and northern Italy. Cases of Copan, 19 are skyrocketing there. As you can see from our map, every continent except Antarctica is now affected. There are more than 83,000 cases that have been reported around the world. The World Health Organization says China still has the most cases, but the majority of new daily cases are now found elsewhere.
