  • Welcome to T.

  • P M Vince Disney Be where we talk about all things Disney.

  • Now Disney is known for their impressive audio animatronics.

  • Since audio animatronics are complex robots, they do break down from time to time, and that was seen in our top 10 Disney animatronic Malfunctions video.

  • But we saved the biggest animatronic malfunction for its own video.

  • The biggest Disney animatronics fail there is at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

  • The attraction Expedition Everest takes riders on a roller coaster adventure all the way through the Himalayas while trying to avoid the dead.

  • When Expedition Everest was built in 2006 it went on record in the Guinness World Records for being the most expensive roller coaster ever built.

  • But most of the cost was due to the highly impressive Yeti animatronic.

  • This yeti is the single biggest dynamic figure that has ever been built.

  • There is nothing that is this big that moves this fast in the world of animation, you can see that the range of movement the yeti was given was very impressive.

  • Coming in at 25 feet tall with 19 different movement functions, this figure had a range of motion of up to five feet horizontally and 18 inches vertically, the most movement any Disney animatronic has ever seen.

  • Now these air, some on ride videos of the yeti performing and what is known as a mode.

  • Take a look.

  • Shortly after the opening of this attraction in April of 2006 the Yeti encountered some problems.

  • It's speculated that the problem was caused by damage to the yeti is concrete base structure resulting in cracks on the foundation.

  • So the problem with the concrete is rumored to be a glitch in the 40 scheduling software that was used to build the attraction.

  • It didn't allow the proper curing of a portion of the eighties concrete foundation prior to the overlapping fabrication of other mountain elements.

  • So technically speaking, there is nothing actually wrong with the Yeti audio animatronic.

  • But if the yeti did continue to operate in a mode, this would have put way too much stress on the foundation, causing even more issues, which is why they've now placed the yeti and what is known as B mode, or what the Disney community refers to as the mode or disco.

  • Yeti is a static yeti illuminated by strobe lights, giving the illusion that Yeti is moving.

  • But in reality it's totally static and the Yet he's been in B mode for so long now that many people don't even know it used to move.

  • I mean, it's been over 10 years now, so you might be wondering, Why doesn't Disney just fix it, right?

  • Well, because of the complexity of the whole ride structure, parts of the mountain would need to be removed to get the proper access needed to fix the issue.

  • This would also mean that the ride will need to be closed down for an extended period of time.

  • For a park that was pretty low on attractions, they wouldn't be able to sacrifice the closure of their newest E ticket attraction in the park.

  • At the G 23 Expo in 2013 Joe Road, the imaginary responsible for Expedition Everest and Animal Kingdom as a whole, was asked about the state of the yeti, and this is what he had to say.

  • Yeah, there's a giant, complicated machine sitting on top of a 46 foot tall tower in the middle of a finished.

  • It's really hard to fix but we are working.

  • I personally, you know, kind of bold on this one in a way that doesn't always any popular, but I won't forget someday, I swear, Theo.

  • In the past few years, there's been rumors circulating that once Pandora at Animal Kingdom was built and the buzz subsides a little bit.

  • Expedition Everest would go down for an extended re Ferb, and the yeti would then get fixed.

  • It should also be noted that Expedition Everest has never undergone an extensive reefer like most big e ticket attractions get in all the Disney parks.

  • So now it's only a matter of when will the ride go down for a reverb?

  • And when it does, will the yeti actually get fixed?

  • It's also been speculated that since the Getty is only 2 to 4 seconds of the actual ride that they may never bother to fix.

  • The biggest Disney animatronic failed there is now.

  • What about you?

  • Do you think the yeti will get fixed?

  • Let us know in the comments below.
