  • Hello, everyone, and welcome to another video.

  • Now, A few days ago, we took a look at a PC that featured on FX 6100 CPU.

  • Now this PC needed a little bit of an upgrade in order to get it gaming again.

  • And so I paired it with a Jew.

  • Ticks 10 50 on dhe.

  • Eight Gigs of DDR three Ram.

  • Now this allowed us to play a few modern titles with 30 frames per second, at least at 10 80 p.

  • But I couldn't help notice that the FX was still slightly being held back.

  • In some instances, believe it or not, by that 10 50 which I didn't think would actually happen games like Just cause forward charge GPU intensive was a prime example of this today.

  • I decided to overcome the 6100 to 4.2 gigahertz, pair it with edgy ticks 10 17 in order to eliminate any sort of bottle necking from the GPU and see what it could really do in 2019 when it came to running a modern Triple A games.

  • Now the FX series would never regarded as brilliant, and I think if you're going to opt for one today, then the ethics 83 50 or even the 95 90.

  • If you've got good enough, cooling would be the best ones to go for, as I think you'll have the best chance with those so called eight core of Arians actually had an effect 6100 few years ago, paid with a 79 50 or something like that, and I couldn't understand why my games were scattering some instances.

  • But I think looking back on it now, the FX 6100 was actually the cause of all my problems there.

  • So let's get into it and see how it handles itself in a few games.

  • Is this aim three plus socket CPU still worth buying?

  • After all, you can find one on the used market here in the UK for 1/3 of the price of the cheapest rise and three CPU.

  • So it may seem a little bit tempting, but I want to tell you straight off the batter, it probably shouldn't be considered, especially if you are going to pair it with any modern graphics card and especially one like a 10 70.

  • It's an unrealistic pairing, but it should allow us to get the most out of this CPU.

  • So if we start off with Battlefield five, the first thing you'll notice is that most of the time the FX 6100 will be maxed out at 100% usage.

  • Now, this did affect the 1% on 10.1% lows that you can see on screen in the top left corner there.

  • And there was quite a bit of stutter throughout, and as the onscreen action heated up, there was certainly a few more frame drops here in there, which overall, did impact performance just a little bit.

  • And we couldn't quite retain an average of 60 frames per second, which the 10 70 should be more than capable of when paired with a more powerful process, sir, especially at these settings, we were using the low preset here with the sink turn off so that we could achieve the maximum frame rate that this system would allow, which, as I said before, did not exceed 60 f p s even using low everywhere.

  • Now watch dogs, too, is a slightly old again.

  • But even so, the FX 6100 was again maxed out here with 100% usage in the Jew ticks, 10 70 wasn't really being utilized all that much again.

  • We couldn't achieve 60 frames per second, and the 1% on 10.1% lows was certainly fluctuating as we made our way through this first level.

  • But it didn't really feel all that statuary, so to speak.

  • There were certain moments of slow down and the occasional freeze.

  • I'll even admit, but aside from that, the experience wasn't as bad as it was in battlefield.

  • It's certainly clear, though, that Thea, 10 70 would certainly benefit from a faster CPU.

  • And because it's running at 100% you can see that this is the FX running at its absolute maximum potential.

  • There would be no point in using anything more powerful than this GPU Now doom isn't so CPU reliant, and so we saw pretty decent results here again.

  • It medium with 10 80 p 80 frames per second, seemed to be the average here, as you can see by the live statistics in the top left corner.

  • But we were experiencing stutter yet again.

  • We saw some pretty low 1% and 10.1% figures here.

  • But overall, this really wasn't an experience that was off putting.

  • Shall we say I could easily play through the game with these settings, and this frame rate bear in mind is the action heats up.

  • Just like in Battlefield five.

  • You may experience the occasional slow down, but it was nowhere near as bad as it was in battlefield hearing doom.

  • And I think the game's still looks pretty impressive.

  • Even with the medium preset now, Fallout 76 really struggled, although the FX 6100 wasn't really being utilized all that much.

  • We saw a huge frame drops here and there, and we weren't able to achieve 60 frames per second or anywhere near in fact on average, with a combination of the c p u N g p.

  • You Now I know from experience that the 10 70 should be ableto handle 60 f.

  • P s just fine, but here the figures weren't all that great.

  • In fact, when I was finished recording this piece of game play here, thegame froze entirely and I had to control or delayed and start all over again.

  • I think with this sort of CPU, you are better off pairing it with a week of GPU and capping your game play to either 60 F p s if the system can handle out lower settings or 30 F p s.

  • If you want a smoother experience and one that's not gonna be all over the place now because Justcause four is more GPU dependent.

  • The game room fine, almost with 60 FBS constantly hear again.

  • The FX chip wasn't maxing out all of the time, and the GPU was being utilized more than it was previously because, as I said, this is a more graphics card intensive based title.

  • But those 1% in 10.1% lows were still quite low here, which does indicate that we saw a few status here and there.

  • Now I always play through the first level because there are a lot of things to be exploded, and this can take a toll on your systems frame rate.

  • But you'll see here that things held up pretty well overall, if you wanna system just to exclusively played rascals for, then this trip will do just fine.

  • But of course I don't recommend doing that.

  • And last but not least, we have a shadow of the Tomb Raider, which actually proved to offer the most stable performance with around 45 frames per second on average.

  • Here we saw a reasonable 1% important once sent those to go with that, and there really wasn't too much stuttered to speak off.

  • We were using the medium settings here again, as I have been using mostly throughout on Dhe during the benchmark run, the game stayed pretty steady, But just like before, you're probably not going to be seeing anyone near 60 f.

  • P s.

  • If that's a target that you want to achieve, those 30 F B s has been more than durable throughout.

  • Most would expect more from a 10 70.

  • And so if you had this PC and upgraded to this graphics card, you may feel a little bit underwhelmed.

  • And I'm telling you now, it's because the CPU would certainly be holding you back.

  • So there we have it.

  • Now.

  • The Ethics 6100 is likely to hold you back in quite a few games, especially those that considered more Cebu intensive like battlefield, for example, where you'll see quite a few Stater's now, I think that the FX.

  • Serious chips were quite an interesting bunch of RCP use.

  • They were never considered fantastic.

  • But I think for the budget user at the time of their release, they sat in a nice spot on the market.

  • And if you wanted something that was OK in terms of performance and didn't break the bank, then they would have done you an okay turn and still might do even today.

  • That being said, I don't think it's a good idea to build a gaming PC around the ethics 6100 in 2019 unless you are pairing it, of course, with a lower end GPU like 10 50 even then you will see some bottlenecks due to the process is power or rather lack thereof.

  • Even if you do over cocky, the results won't exactly be too impressive.

  • So bear that in mind If you're thinking about one of these, some may say, anyway, that the Aim three platform is a dead socket, but I don't really consider anything a dead socket.

  • After all, we've built pieces in the past on the 11 55 Intel socket, which most would consider obsolete these days.

  • But you'll find that a top end I seven on that sort of suck.

  • It will still perform just fine in most modern games.

  • And so it's always important to take a look back at these things because you never know where the great deals might lie, and there might be hidden bargain here over there.

  • For example, with the ethics, Siri's was still good.

  • They're so cheap now that it may have been worth picking one of these up.

  • But I don't think it is anymore, especially when you consider actually there am three.

  • Plus, motherboards don't seem to be that low in price.

  • The cheapest new one here is around £50 for that you can get in a 3:20 a.m. four bald on stick, a rising 3 1200 on that bad boy and see much better results straightaway.

  • And that's definitely worth considering.

  • My advice would be if you're thinking about FX chip in 2019 just get the cheapest risin that's on the market because the results will be a lot better, and you've got that upgrade path to should you need it.

  • So I'm gonna leave it there.

  • Thank you for watching.

  • I hope you've enjoyed this one.

  • If you did leave a lock on it down below.

  • If you didn't leave a dislike on it, subscribe to the channel.

  • If you haven't done so already.

  • Let me know if you still run with one of these in your system and how it's holding up for you on Dhe.

  • As always.

  • I hope to see all of you in the next one.
