Hello I'm Katheryn Taffs, the course coordinator for The Bachelor of Science.
The Bachelor of Science is a relatively new degree that was introduced to
provide students with a broad overview of the sciences but also the flexibility
to tailor the degree to meet their individual interests. So the first year
is an overview of science and as students develop a better awareness of
their area of interest, the degree can be tailored to meet their individual
career goals. The Bachelor of Science can often be a great start for students not
quite decided on their future direction. It is possible to use the Bachelor of
Science as an introduction to university study and the science discipline before
choosing a specialist area. If you are interested in environmental science
there are majors in biology and environmental chemistry. These majors
suit students who want a degree more specialised than an environmental
science degree and are targeting a career in a field such as mine
remediation or laboratory analysis for environmental quality audits. If you are
interested in engineering, but not a full engineering degree, there is a major in
engineering that teaches engineering principles but within the physical and
biological aspects of science.
